I'm looking for a fun way to celebrate my DD's 8th birthday. I don't know much about this luau, so please give me some advice.

A few years ago we went to the Hoop de doo, and enjoyed it. Now I'm looking for something new.

Also, if anyone knows, I'd like to know how this compares to Sea World's luau (I haven't been to that either).

I think you'll find a lot of different opinions about the Polynesian's Spirit of Aloha dinner (as with most topics Disney-related). My family has always enjoyed the show, and it's one of my favorite things to do in Disney. I've never been to the Sea World luau, but it does sound pretty similar. At the Polynesian, they do a dance with anybody that's celebrating their birthday that month, which is pretty cute. In my opinion, they do a good job of spreading out the serving of the food (which is served "family-style" and yummy) and the entertainment, which is pretty neat. I believe they have food selections for children in case they don't like what is being served.

My 4 yo daughter loved it last month. I'm betting an 8 yo girl would also enjoy it.

Granted, I am not 8 years old (I'm 23), but I loved it! My sister, who is 13 loved it as did my 21 year old sister, my parents, and my husband! We were all asking ourselves why we hadn't tried it sooner in all our trips to WDW. It was my mom's 50th birthday and all the birtday people got to go onstage and do a birthday dance. Plus they gave my mom a headband lei in addition to the other lei since it was her birthday. I thought the food was great, and the fire-thrower was amazing. Definitely go!

I really enjoyed the luau at Disney and thought the food was really good also. I have read negative reviews on some boards, but me and my DH both had a blast. In fact, we went to Maui a year ago and went to one of the big luau's at the resort thinking it would be fun like we had a Disney. We thought the luau at Disney was way better than the luau in Hawaii we attended!

Our experience with the Luau was awesome! We got there a bit early for our 8pm reservation and had to wait and it was drizzling a bit. They sat us quickly with a great view and our Dd's ( both 11) took part in the show. The food was excellent, it was our girls favorite meal. I would definately try it.

Enjoy!! :thumbsup2

I have this booked for our final night. I was a bit nervous b/c there are so many neg. reviews!! Nice to see there are people who liked it! We are easy to please and think this will be a great way to end our trip!

My DS(23) and DGF(21) just went LAST NIGHT (3/7/06) and said it was WONDERFUL. The food was super and the show was a fabulous. :thumbsup2
