We'll (Mom, Dad, 12, 9, 5 yr old children) be at WDW in June for 12 days, and need info on the Polynesian Luau show--is it worth the money? Is it authentic? Is the food good?

Please share your thoughts!!

I have not been for a few years but my recollection is that the show is great (and pretty similar to ones I've seen in Hawaii), and the food is kind of so-so. Personally, I didn't like the seating arrangements where everyone sits at long tables with the stage area to your side.

My sister was there this summer and stated it was not worth the $$ and was rather long-
I would advise to go to parks instead- make use of the restuarants and shows in epcot, mgm, etc..

But -

We had great seats; in the lower section one table from the stage. Being that close held the kids' attention. I'm sure it would have been totally different, if we were farther from the stage.

We went in June this year. The night of the show was super hot & humid & threatened to rain however they went on with the show in spite of a small amount of thunder. The have several ceiling fans in Luau Cove and once we sat down it was quite comfortable.

I thought the food was quite good. Salad, pineapple, bread for appetizers & fried rice, vegatables and chicken & ribs for dinner + they brought separate kids meals with chicken nuggets, apple sauce, mac & cheese, etc for the kids. Dessert was a chocolate volcano creation that the kids liked. They had a full bar + beer & wine were included in the ticket price.

I believe they seat you according to when you purchase the tickets; we reserved our in April for June dates and had really good seats.

I thought the dancing and costumes were really authentic. They build a story line into the show; someone is home from college and gets back to her roots by dancing with her friends or something like that.

DS10 really liked the guy who did the fire twirling. Here are some pictures; hope this helps!

You might enjoy a meal at Ohana's restaurant in the Poly instead. It is considerably cheaper, the food is great, and they do offer some entertainment/activities. You can read a lot about it on the restaurant board

We've done O'hana's and were looking for a little different kind of entertainment. Such mixed reviews, though!! Thanks for your replies.

but I agree that the food is so-so. In fact, I'd call it barely so-so. However, the show is so good that it is still worth the $$$.
