We are getting ready to make reservations for July 2003 and are planning our stay for the Polynesian in a garden view room.

However, I am wondering what it will be like there with the Hawaii building under rehab being so close to the Volcano Pool?

Anyone staying away from the Poly next summer because of the rehab? Should I be concerned or just go with our original plans? With the number of rooms available at the Poly down, will it be difficult to make ressies ---- do you think that there will be codes available for the Poly?

I'm trying to figure out what we should do for July. We love our time at the Polynesian and have been doing concierge the last two summers. I don't think I want to try concierge at the Tahiti longhouse, it just doesn't appeal to me since we do GV. I thought about getting a regular GV room since we have done it before and there are a couple longhouses that I wouldn't mind staying in. My biggest concern is that we spend a lot of time at the resort. One of our favorite activities is swimming in the pool. I saw what the other longhouses looked like when they were getting redone, kind of a mess but not as bad as the scafolding at the BWV's. I just had problems when we stayed at the BWV's this summer and they were doing their enhancements. To me it just takes away from the beauty of the resort and it's rather annoying to hear the work they are doing when you are trying to relax on vacation. We have friends going with us this summer and I know the Polynesian would be perfect. I just don't know if I want to show them it while they are working on improvements? The MK is our favorite park and we want to stay at a monorial resort. I've narrowed it down between the GF and the Polynesian. I just don't know what it would be like not staying there? We just enjoy it so much. I'm happy knowing we are going to spend part of our trip at our other favorite resort, the AKL:cool:

From what I understand the rehab is all interior work. Plus Hawaii is still separated from the Volcano Pool by a short walk and lots of landscaping.

Why worry about it?

We stayed at the Hawaii building when they were revamping the pool and I thought it was interesting to see what kind of progress they had made each day. We really didn't even notice the construction. We have reservations the first of July at the Poly for 7 nights and I'm not worried about the construction. We are staying concierge and I'm looking forward to it.

We're booked for our return to concierge in June. The construction won't keep us away from Polynesian but you have a good point about the proximity to the pools. It might make the walk between the pools a bit of a trial should they close the walkway between them and next to the Hawaii entrance.

I must admit though I am more than a bit anxious about how they will accomplish concierge in Tahiti especially since this building is larger and not set up to handle this type of service.

Further, how about all those folks paying for a LV category room. Tahiti is the primary LV nonconcierge building--certainly the largest. These are logistical problems, obviously, over which I have no control (drat it all) and I will trust these folks know how to handle them.

The only other question I have is why in the heck would they do a rehab on the priciest building during the busier summer season? One would certainly think that people paying premium $$$$s for the stay won't be thrilled at the less than stellar location of Tahiti (compared to Hawaii). Also, the GV won't have any type of view (compared to Hawaii).

I'm sure there's some logic to this somewhere.

We are trying to decide what we want to do as well. I am leaning towards staying somewhere else since we have stayed in the Hawaii the past 2 summers.

It just isn't fair the Polynesian on the 4th of July can't be beat LOL!
