We are booked into the Dolphin for 15 nights from Dec 26 and I'm really looking forward to it, our last stay at the Dolphin was in May 99 so it's been a long time!

BUT, I would really LOVE to try out the Polynesian for a few nights towards the end of our stay, and it would have to be a lagoon view or nothing - that's just the way I feel about it - the view is very important to me! :D

I wonder if anyone can tell me whether I am likely to get a lagoon view when the codes come out for January. Dates would be 6-9 so it will be value season? Problem is, I can't really afford to pay any more than I'm paying for the Dolphin, which is $201.69 in total - I know that seems a strange figure, but it includes the Resort Fee! ;)

Am I being unrealistic expecting to get a lagoon room for that price? Is there anyone who stayed at the Polynesian LAST January who could give me an idea of the rate they got?

Thanks for any help with this! I wish the codes would hurry up and come out, to put me out of my misery! ;)

The lowest code rate Ive heard of recently for the Poly has been 179.00 and that was without tax, in value season and for a garden view.
We recently spent a night there. With a code rate and tax we paid 204.00 for a garden view. I think it would be very difficult to find a lagoon view for that price, but if you do find it, let us know. ;)
We have also had a "garden view" room in the Samoa building which was pretty much a lagoon view. We could see the pool, GF, lagoon, and the castle if we streched. You might consider requesting that building if you need the view, but cant afford it. It was wonderful for us. IMO, the Poly is so beautiful any view is great.

The lowest I've seem Poly LV in the past couple of years is $254 a night, that includes tax. So, if you can swing that I think you have a good chance of going to the Poly for the last few nights of your trip.

As others have posted, there has not been a LV rate at $201. Even though it's value season, you probably will be paying around $250 -$260 for a LV room.

Truthfully, the view at the Polynesian is good even with a garden view. Some of the LV rooms aren't very good and there's really no guarantee that you will get the perfect view.

We have a GV in December and I plan to walk the few steps to the beach and watch the castle or the EWP. It's not really inconvenient. But if LV is what you have your heart set on, I don't think you will find it for the same price you are paying at the Dolphin.

Gaarden view in Tokelau #X911,X912,X913,x914,x915 they are considered GV but you can see the beach and lagoon from the balconey.

Thanks everyone for your replies - it's not sounding too good is it? :(

Camcolt - unfortunately renovations start at the Samoa building on 6 Jan - great timing!

Jel and zulaya - thanks for letting me know past prices for garden and lagoon view.

DisneyDenise - thanks for the room numbers, but I'm really not sure whether to take the risk of booking a garden view, as I know that requests are just that, and are not guaranteed so I could end up looking at a car park!

As you will probably know, the views from the Dolphin are fabulous, so to give that up I would have to be sure I was going to get a good view of the Lake.

I guess it's a matter of waiting to see what the codes are - maybe they will break all records for low rates! ;)

Failing that, maybe we could stay 3 nights instead of the 4 I had in mind, and sacrifice some of my 'shopping budget' to cover the extra $150. I have no idea in mind of the 'perfect view', just as long as I can see the water I will be happy! :D

Do you remember what room you had in Samoa? Isn't this the smoking building? I've seen some posts about it smelling very smoky, but my husband smokes so we need smoking, but are very interested in the view you had in your GV room. Thanks for your help.

When I was at WDW this past January, the Polynesian LV was running $260+ per night with taxes. We got the Grand Floridian LV for $276 per night with taxes instead (was debating whether doing the GF or Poly, but decided I needed my GF fix). :)

Mazzy...almost all room views at the Polynesian are really beautiful. The only truly car park views are on one side of Rapa Nuie and even those have lots of vegetation. If you stay at the Polynesian, I find it hard to think you'll ever want to go back to the Dolphin. Just MHO!!

CD - thanks for letting me know your price for the Polynesian for last January - it helps a lot! You got a great deal on the Grand Floridian - we have visited that Resort but I think I prefer the Polynesian and it's themeing but they are both nice-looking hotels!

BCV - That's the problem isn't it - when you stay in a Deluxe you don't want to stay anywhere else! Our first every trip in 99 we stayed at the Dolphin, our second trip we could only stretch to Dixie Landings, and I really did miss the views, all we could see out of our window was the metal railing and a bit of grass! Mind you, we booked a package with a travel agent for Dixie, if I'd known about codes and Disney Club cards then, we could have stayed at the Dolphin again for the same cost! Never mind, better late than never - we got half price rooms at the Dolphin for this next trip with out DC card! :D

It will be interesting to see what we think of the Polynesian compared to the Dolphin as they are both very different Resorts - I do love the views from the Dolphin, but I'm hoping we love our stay at the Polynesian just as much! :D

Samsma, we were in 3604.
We originaly requested Nonsmoking, preferably Fiji and upon arriving we were told it was closed(I actually heard that few days earlier here). The CM said we have a room for you all ready in the Samoa building. At first I panicked because this was smoking(I dont like the smell of smoke, and I can smell it a mile away), but I figured I would at least see how the room was first, before complaining, especially since it looked like a good area. When I ever walked in and saw the view I didnt care about smoking, LOL! It was awesome! But to be honest I never smelled any smoke in the room or the building(we usually walked up outside, then we were a few rooms down just inside the door), and there wasnt even an ash tray in the room. I saw no sign of smoke and Im sensitive to it. I guess we just got lucky, but yes, it is a smoking building.
Good Luck!

I don't have any idea on the rates because I haven't stayed @ either of these resorts. But my comment is...

15 NIGHTS!! YOU LUCKY DUCK!!
