My partner and I are finishing up our four day trip to the polynesian concierge. This trip had some problems. First before we checked in we had called to make sure we had a balcony room with lagoon view. I wanted this room type so we could see the fireworks from our balcony. My partner called up and was told we had garden view. He explained in detail that we had booked the lagoon view. She told him that she'd have to check with central reservations and would call him back in thirty minutes. Two hours later the manager of the concierge calls and was never updated by the person he had talked to. My partner had to explain the whole problem again. So the manager says he got us the balcony room garden view. But he would see about moving us to lagoon view if he had availability. That never happend. He was supposed to meet with us at check-in that never happened either. At this point I figured we would just enjoy our time at Disney. The food at the polyneisan concierge is the best. I've tried it at all of he other deluxe restorts and none can beat the poly. My only other gripe is that I had asked the concierge desk person directions on how to get down to port everglades in Ft. Lauderdale and also parking information. I was told they would look that up and let me know before we check-out. I called again to get this information and was told I would have to call my crusie line to get this information. It took me less that five minutes to find this information after booting up my laptop and getting on the web. So overall the food is great but the service isn't good. (The maid service is good)

Thanks for the report! I'm sorry that your experience wasn't up to par. . .maybe on your next trip you'll have better service. I've never stayed there, , but I wish I could tell you that service there is usually much better. I hear that AKL concierge is the best. . .it's worth a try if you go to WDW again.

:wave2:

bausemer, There is quite a bit of $$ difference between Poly Lagoon View Concierge and Poly Garden View Concierge. At a bare minimum, I would make sure that I had only been charged for the GV Concierge. Sorry to hear about the mixup! :(

I hope you are not paying for LV concierge while staying in a GV concierge room.

I would have been stomping mad if they gave me a gv room after paying for lv! At the very LEAST you should be refunded the difference in price, but even that seems unfair because you BOOKED lv! If they didn't have a lv room to give you they should have given you a suite. LOL ;) ::yes::

I too am wondering if you paid for lagoon view or just thought you were getting it for some reason. Didn't you receive a confirmation that would have told you what you had and what you paid?

There is a pretty big price difference between GV and LV. What was on your confirmation?

I don't want to presume anything about whom you referred to as your "partner". I know Disney has a nice policy about this sort of intimacy. But, perhaps, the concierge staffs may not sound tolelate about this vaque relation as many of us do. Of course, if it's not what I think, then my conclusion would turn out differently.

To clarify my statement above, when I read a couple refered to the other as a "partner", my mind tends to presume that as of "domestic partner" or "partner under a civil union". If it's not the case, I apologize to those of you who feel offend by my prejudice.

You're kidding, right?

Sorry your room wasn't what you wanted. :( I would have been really really annoyed to have planned a special trip like that and spend a lot of money to have my requests ignored, especially by the manager! I hope you and your partner had a great time on your cruise!

BTW, disneyrhap, I really don't think it's any of your business who bausemer's partner is! I think it is ridiculous that the concierge staff would discriminate against anyone based on their own prejudices. Are you trying to say that a CM decided "hmmmm, I don't like this person's lifestyle so I'm going to assign them a room they didn't pay for."? Even if it wasn't a stupid thing to do, I think it's an illegal thing to do.

Besides, have you been to WDW??? Having been friends with a few CM's over the years, I have to say there are CM's who have "partners". If you are offended by this, I would stay far away from Disney.

Sorry everyone, I just had to get this out. I'll probably come back and edit it later. LOL Ok, I'm going to go calm down now :)

disneyrhap,

I still can't figure out your post. What is tolelate?

Are you trying to say it's okay to give someone less of a room than what they paid for becuase they have a domestic partner?

bausemer,

If you indeed had a LV concierge room booked and they gave you a GV concierge room then I hope you were credited the rate difference.

Don't get so hot under the collar! I don't think Disneyrhap is making a judgement...I think she/he is saying that Disney might have made a judgement!
Besides, I think it is appalling that Disney would downgrade ANYBODY! This is sooo unusual! Bausemer, I would rant and rave!

I'm not getting hot under the collar. I just want to know what he meant.

Disney couldn't care less about who is paying for the room.

I agree! So being downgraded is really the issue! I have ressies for Poly Concierge for Aug., and I will be fuming if they change anything about my ressie!

If Lagoon View was paid for and not recieved the original poster is owed the differance refunded back, posthaste. I am sure it was a mixup in room assignment and the suggestion that it may have been anything other I feel is outrageous and I would be insulted by the insinuation if I was the OP.

Sooo, Op Get your money back if charged for Lagoon View. and may I suggest AKL the next time. The staff is top notch!

The room type that was booked and paid for should be very clear on the room confirmation you get from Disney soon after booking. At the Polynesian, the description on this printed confirmation will very clearly state either "Garden View" or "Lagoon View". I can't imagine that a guest who's booked and paid for Lagoon View would be assigned anything else... my guess is that you were actually booked in and charged for a Garden View room. The price difference between Garden View and Lagoon view can be around $100 per night...

What is printed on your confirmation?
