Polynesian Concierge - questions

Hi. My DH and I have booked Polynesian Concierge LV for four nights in September - this is our first time staying concierge level at the Polynesian. When booking the room the CM mentioned there were no guarantees that we would get a Magic Kingdom view. I thought all lagoon view rooms in Hawaii were Magic Kingdom views? Can anyone clarify this? Also, I know some of the rooms are smoking optional. I'd be interested in opinions from any non-smokers who have stayed in these rooms - could you tell they were smoking rooms? Could you get any smokey smell from others around you who might be smoking?

Since we're going the latter part of September, does anyone know what our chances might be for getting our special requests (third floor, balcony room), and getting into our room early. Is it true that we should make our special requests to the concierge staff? We actually made our special requests at the time of booking the resort.

And my final question, how do they handle late check in? There's a chance we won't be arriving at the resort until approx 11pm.

I've stayed at the Polynesian in a concierge lagoon view smoking-optional room on 3 separate trips and never smelled smoke inside the rooms.

Also, they say that not all concierge lagoon rooms are MK view because a small number of them have obstructions such as bushes on the ground floor, or trees/tree tops on the upper floors.

The smoking-optional rooms are all up on the top (third) floor, at the far end of the building.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visits to the Hawaii building and feel that the lagoon side of that building offer the BEST views of any location on all of Disney property. Have a great time!!

I just saw your question about the late check in. One time we checked in around midnight-1am and since the concierge lounge was already closed we simply checked in at the main Polynesian lobby and then proceeded to our room in the Hawaii building.

I appreciate the information you've provided. I had the option of booking a non-concierge Magic Kingdom view at full price or lagoon concierge with a AAA discount and couldn't pass up the lagoon concierge since the price was so close to the non discounted MK view room. Its our anniversary and I wanted to do something very special for my DH. I thought MK view would be special, but if I could do concierge MK view it would be even better! Neither of us are smokers and have found being in a room that smelled like smoke was a big turn off.
