Hey has anyone heard anymore information on the rumored villa/bungalows planned at the Polynesian out over the water. The disunplugged reported this and just wondering if their are any links to information on this or if any other news has come out. I think this would be awesome and very cool to stay in.

~Wow. I have to admit, this sounds fabulous. Now, I have heard of a possible Poly DVC -- but not the "bungalows over the water" part! This sounds very ambitious for Disney, so I won't get my hopes up, but OMG if they did -- it would look like the Four Seasons Bora Bora sans the pristine blue waters -- and, instead of a mountain there would be the Castle!

I hadn't heard this one...and I don't think the timing is necessarily right yet...

But nobody can convince me that vacation club at the Polynesian is not a 1000% certainty.

This one is a slam dunk.

At first I didn't think a second tower at contemporary (technically third...I guess) was a possibility either...too much.

But that seems like a foregone now too

This came from the Disunplugged podcast show Shaun reported it and said it was from a stron reliable source so I think it could very possibly happen. I'm very excited to see if it does happen.

This one is just a common sense type thing...in a few months it will be the only "deluxe" with a DVC unit.

Bloggers are not reliable in most cases...they tend to be self-righteous fanboys or employees who want to make themselves feel like its more than just a job...even the "more professional" ones spend most days grasping at straws.
So while there may be credibility to many "leaks" as a concept...often what is overlooked is that the money derails most potential ideas...especially in Orlando - where the sole purpose is to generate revenue and profit. That's it - nothing else.

Oh my. That would be cool. These have plumbing correct? Seems like a challenge.

Kinda like Treehouse Villas if DVC.

Yes they are supposed to be able to fit one to two family in these so I'm thinking up to like ten people in these.

Exactly like treehouse villas...any new construction at deluxes will be DVC for the foreseeable future.

According to the podcast they are supposed to begin building this year. Could the podcast gang be trying to put one over on us as an April Fools joke? Seems like we would have heard something before now if construction is going to begin this year. Interesting.

Assuming it is real, I don't know how I feel about it, think about what would be affected: Resort boat docks, electric light parade, recreational boats, wedding pavilion (if they build in that direction).

Then there's the aspect of availability and appeasing the guest...

Likely still way out of my price range, but what a great concept if they go for it.

Great questions - I had the same thoughts, not to mention the water safety concerns (unlike iconic Bora Bora resort, lots of kids at Disney and also US probably much more favorable lawsuit environment). Also, unless heavily monitored and rigorously cleaned, that area and potentially increased litter right on the water, etc. could be a draw for a Hitchcock-like bird grouping or even increased gator presence.

The place to look to see if there is ANY validity to this is the place that told us of bay lake and dvc a la grandiose....

and that is the permits for the water district filed in the state.

Pure speculation:

Looking over the sat view on google maps.... the east end of Polynesian is very tight for space. I don't see how you could fit even a small DVC in there even if you rebuild one longhouse. Parking would be impossible. And overwater bungalows would be quite close to the ferry dock. HOOOOOOOONK. HOOOOOOOONK. What fun that would be.

There is some space on the point of land that extends out from the center. Still hard to fit in a DVC with a new pool, building....

The west end, however could have lots of space. If you moved the Luau. A new DVC longhouse, overwater bungalows, a pool, and there is space for more parking under the monorail beam. A short walk to share DVC resources at GF too.

Anyone know what happening with land being cleared both sides of Floridian Way over there near the Luau building?

More Poly DVC plans are discussed in the latest podcast at WDWtoday. It sounds like there are plans to book-end the resort with DVC on both sides.

If it happens, awesome. The only problem is it will costs 2-3 years worth of points for me to stay. I can already imagine what GFV are going to sell for, I cant imagine what PolyV will sell for.

Gonna kill the views.. .just like the Grand villas will be doing.

Is the land slightly NW of the TTC buildable? I imagine something will be there sooner or later. They could reasonably fit 4 Bay Lake Towers in that space along with parking and amenities. Or could fit a bunch of longhouses and there is ample room there for bungalows over the water. I doubt they use that area as 'add-on' to Poly though, as its just too far away from the rest of the resort.
