We were really hoping to stay at the Poly next July, but right now, I won't book with the uncertainty of what is going on with the refurb. Anyone else in sort of a holding pattern waiting to get some definite details?

Oh yes we are. I think a ton of people are. I bet the gf and cr are going to fill fast. I don't know what to do.

We wanted the Poly for August 2014, but because of the construction rumors, I have locked in my 40% military discount at CR instead.

I figure that as we get closer, if the construction looks like it won't be an issue, I can try to change to Poly if it's still available under discount, and if not, I'm still happy with CR.

I figure alot of people will hold off on Poly, and thus it might be able to switch to it versus switching away from it once people find out more details about construction.

I currently have the Boardwalk booked. Gonna hold on to that until we know for sure what's going on with the Poly.

No. I booked the Poly for mid February and if come Dec/Jan construction is too much then we will look at switching....based on Tikiman's recent posts I am really not all that concerned...especially until Disney officially announces it right now its all rumor and hearsay...

This!:thumbsup2 We are booked Poly GV CL again for next July again. We switched resorts so many times before this past trip 7/18-7/28 and still ended up at our favorite resort, the Polynesian. This time we don't want to over think it.:goodvibes

I agree with this. I think there are enough people that are still booking the Poly for next year and will change if it turns out there is going to be a lot of construction going on (i.e., volcano pool closed, GCH closed, etc). With that said, I think those that are holding off to see what happens might have a hard time changing TO the Poly if the resort starts booking up between now and when/if an official announcement is made by Disney (of course that is just MY opinion ;)).

Except for the fact that Disney probably won't ever make an official announcement (historically speaking) :rotfl:

Remember BLT was already 1/2 built and they still wouldn't acknowledge that it was happening...

Thinking along the same lines and have booked Poly for early May 2014.

Tikiman's most recent posts have not projected a timeline for major work on the GCH or Volcano pool (while there was a rumor going around that work would start on the Volcano Pool in January, a recent inquiry noted that it had been put off indefinitely - and even if there is work in January, there's never been any definitive indication whether this will be a minor, e.g, couple of weeks, or major, e.g., multi-month, refurb).

Given that Disney tends to execute its plans more slowly than one might speculate from reading Tikiman's posts (or changes their mind altogether), I'm guessing that major work on the GCH and Volcano Pool won't happen for a while (my guess is at least until after the peak summer 2014 season is over, maybe not even until 2015).

I got word last week that some preliminary work is planned to start next month around Tahiti and the pilings out in the water for the bungalows. Weather they stay with their plan to work on the pool next January or push it out, I don’t see things getting pushed out too far because the one thing they seem sure on about the schedule is completing everything including DVC by the end of 2015 or early 2016 at the latest. This means things will have to happen next year to get it all done in stages.

2016 sounds like a great time to stay at the Poly! :goodvibes

No, I would go ahead and book as nothing is offical yet. More than likely there will be construction, and if you are uncomfortable with that you can always change resorts.

Very true. They never officially announced the refurbishment of the longhouses, even though they are almost done, and still have yet to update the pics of the rooms on their website.

Thanks for posting this information :).

i remember that, so bizare, you would ask CM what the huge building was and they would say they did not know? :rotfl:

I figure it like this...I am happy with my booking at CR. Poly was my 1st choice, but I would be unhappy staying there with construction.

The Disboards are a very small percentage of people who visit Disney, so, whether or not even a bunch of people on here are holding off or not kind of doesn't matter as the average Disney-goer probably has no idea, however, if Disney does make the announcement (and they eventually did acknowledge all of the closures due to GF DVC on their website), people who are booked at Poly will start to jump ship...many of them probably going to the other two monorail resorts. I already have my reservation at another monorail resort, so I don't have to worry about it. And, again, if it's meant to be...then there will be no construction and I will be able to switch to Poly closer to my date. If not, no biggie. :goodvibes

I've clearly thought about this way too much. :p

Disney is soooo wierd about their super secret projects. :lmao:
