Polynesian and the Monorail

We are staying at the Polynesian for the first time for our trip in February (stayed at POR other times we've visited). We plan on spending several days at MK. Does anyone have feedback on whether there (1) will be long lines for the monorail from the Polynesian to MK and back at park opening/closing and (2) if so do you have to wait for the monorail to make multiple trips before you can get on? Further, what time does monorail service stop?

I understand the ride to MK is only 10 minutes or so but if we have to wait 30minutes in line to get on I'd like to know so I can plan accordingly.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Oh, sort of off-post topic, but how long does it take on a bus from Polynesian to DTD?

Thanks again!

We stayed there in May a few years ago and hardly waited. The nice thing is you also have boat access to MK. The majority only using the monorail to the Poly are the resort gueats staying at the three monorail resorts.

You have lots of options to get to MK. Yes, there can be a wait in the morning for the resort monorail, but you almost always get on the first train. But, you can also use the resort launch from the Poly dock. Then there is the 5-7 min walk to the TTC where you can get the ferry or the express monorail.

From the Poly, MK is the second stop with at least a short stop at GF. At closing there is a mad rush to all transport and it's very common to have to wait for a second monorail or launch. Due to capacity, the ferry can be the fastest with the short walk from the TTC. The launch is more fun. Basically budget at least 20 min in the morning and 30 at night.

Can't help with the bus since we drive, but for what it's worth driving time is about 15min. Someone who has used it can tell you if there are stops for the bus before DTD.

the wait isn't very long, it just depends on the time of year you go. actually depending on where your room is it might be easier to walk to the ticket and transportation center next door than walking to the Great Ceremonial house and catching the monorail there. We stayed in the Tahiti building April 2009 and it was so convenient to just walk to the TTC to get the monorail. You can choose the express monorail or the hotel monorail there.

Don't forget your other MK to Poly option: resort ferry boat. They are small, but it is my favorite way for getting back and forth from the MK to the GF or Poly.
