My family and I will be staying at the Polynesian and POR in 5 days and we are going to request which building to stay in. Does anyone have any suggestions? We were hoping to be near the pool, the monorail(Polynesian), the resturaunts, etc. Thanks!

For POR bldg 14 is the closest (and most requested for that reason I believe). Also pretty close in the AB section are bldgs 15-18. We were in bldg 16 over Spring Break and loved it. It was close enough we could either cut through the parking lot and be at the bus stop in 2 mins and continue a bit more to the main bldg, or walk the path and be at the main bldg in 2-3 mins. There was also a quiet pool right between our bldg and I believe bldg 18. I can't help you with the Poly as we've only stayed at POR, hope that helps! Have a blast

Samoa is the building closest to the volcano pool. It is also only a short walk to the main bulding for the restaurants, monorail, etc. You can actually cut through another building, Nuie, to get to the GCH without having to walk outside in case of rain.

We just got back last night from 8 night stay at WDW. We stayed 1 night at POR and 7 nights at the Poly. POR was o.k., but we were in bldg 39, which was a far walk to everything. POR is very spread out so if you are not in one of the closer buildings, it is quite a walk. SInce we were only there for one night, we didn't mind. THe rooms are small, but you really aren't in the room that much anyway. The pool is great. It is big and has a water slide. We did not eat there so I can't help you there.

The Poly was great. We stayed in room 1604 in Somoa. I think this is by far one of the best buildings. While it is classified as a garden view, I could see the water from my patio. It is so accessible to the pool and the great ceremonial house. If you get the refillable mugs, then you want to be near Captain Cooks to get them refilled. I liked the ground floor because we could go out the patio door to the pool. Since we were so close to the bldg., I did not worry about leaving the patio door unlocked.

The room at the Poly was much more spacious than at POR. The daybed was large enough for an adult. If you have any other questions about the Poly, let me know.

We loved samoa too. If you choose this longhouse, do not request the 2nd floor as there is no balcony. We have had room 1602, that is ground floor, volcano pool view and this time we had 3611, the view was terrible, last room on corner, but right next to hawaii conceirge, so we could just go down the stairs and not wait for the elevator, however our view was of the hawaii bldg. and just some bamboo tree tops. My 2nd choice would be rarotonga for the close proximity you want to everything. Also in the heat and humidity those 2 bldgs. are shorter walks to the bus stop, gch, captain cooks, etc. We have also short cutted through nuie, beware its smoking and the smell could be strong, we hurried due to ds asthma and we have cut through rarotonga too during a storm. Its a very popular longhouse to request, samoa and they have less than 100 rooms I think. I did request pool view, lst floor etc, but we check in like 11 pm so I guess we got the leftovers, if you are checking in a little earlier it helps I think. Good luck and have a great trip.
