This is what a friend who works at the Polynesian had to say about what the storm did.

“ALOHA!
Everyone's OK that we know of. The resort lost some trees and there is a lot of bamboo and foliage damage. Landscaping really has their job cut out for them over the next week for clean up. The pool was full of sand and debris but the cast members were able to get it cleaned and open by 12pm Saturday. The parks opened Saturday and Downtown Disney partially opened. The marina was closed Saturday for boat rentals. The monorail from TTC to Epcot closed and there were buses taking the guests to Epcot. Animal Kingdom remained closed Saturday but is back open now.

There were cast members that stayed thru the night and went home on Saturday. There are still a lot of people without power. The power companies say it could be up to a week or so to get everyone's power back on. Everyone seems to be in good spirits though. We are running on short staffing throughout WDW, especially on Saturday. Most guests have been very understanding about having to wait longer for transportation etc. Some can't fathom there was destruction were cast members live and the employees can't come to work so they don't understand why we are on short staffing. We've all had to be very patient. Management and Office and Technical staff were asked to come to work and be placed in areas to work shifts where cast members were needed and this seemed to work out over the weekend. Today things seem to be getting back in place. We're keeping an eye out for this next storm that's forming. Hopefully it won't come close to us!”

Lets all remember they are working hard to still make our visits magical even when things are crazy at their own homes.

Aloha

Steve

Thank you for the update! I was wondering how the Poly did during the hurricane.

Thanks for the update. We'll be there on the 5 days and was wondering how they held up with all their trees. :)

Didn't they relocate some guests from the Poly due to the hurricane (beforehand)?
I did not hear the reason though. Anyone know?
