Poly - WHY couldn't I just say "Aloha" back?

Okay, I'm being a bit silly today, but does anyone else feel utterly speechless when the CMs say "Aloha" to them? I find myself (hesitating) and finally coming up with something stupid like "Hello there." So, my goal for our upcoming September trip is to GET OVER myself and just respond "Aloha" back. Anyone else Aloha-impaired?!?

I find it a little awkward, but I do it anyway.

The same thing happens to me when I go to Mexican restaurants, I have trouble saying hola back. The waiters always seem miffed too, when I accidentally say hello.

I wouldn't want them to think I don't appreciate the Aloha as opposed to a Hi or whatever, so Aloha it is!! No offense (because I was you once) but I think the people who say Hi instead of Aloha look the most silly!

I've been to Hawaii twice, so I have no problem saying "Aloha".

We always say Aloha back. It brings us back to our 2 trips to Hawaii. The kids love to say it back as well, sometimes they even try to say it first!

To help get over this fear of Aloha, Try having dinner at the Poly Luau. Where they make you scream ALOHA a couple times until they are satisfied. It's fun and makes it alot easier to make you say "Aloha" where ever you go!

Last December when my family and I stayed at the Polynesian when the Cast Members said Aloha we said it back to them and did not feel weird doing that.

While we were there we asked one Cast Member does it ever get annoying to say it all the time? He told us he said it so many times that the odd time when answering his cell phone, sometimes instead of saying hello he answers Aloha.

I went to this Italian resort in Dominican Republic, 90% of the people were from Italy. I am used to saying Hola as greating in the DR, when someone said Ciao to me I got mixed up and said HOW. Such a goof I am.

Aloha! I so miss Seinfeld! There are so many more things in the world that have evolved since the end of the show that would make great episodes!

I've been 3 times and although I appreciate the aloha's, I find myself just saying hi there or something like that. I feel strange saying it back.

Not aloha, but while in Mexico WS I made my DD5 and DS8 who are taking Spanish classes speak a little Spanish (mostly numbers and colors) at the Kidcot-the CM's were great and loved it1

I am counting down the days where my I am greeted daily with ALOHA! (Sept 08!) and I will LOVE saying ALOHA ...right back at ya!

I know at my first stay at the Poly it seemed kind of wierd saying 'Aloha' back but that lasted all of about 30 minutes. The whole vibe of the place grabbed me and I (and my DD8) said Aloha each chance we got. One of the CMs even taught my DD8 some phrases in Hawaiian that she was so proud to learn. Aloha and Mahalo are two words we use a lot at the Poly!

Just do it. It'll grow on ya!
