Now that we have picked the poly we would like to know what building people like to stay in and why.

I go back and forth on what I want to be closest to. We will have our two year old with us also.
So where do you like to stay and why?
Thanks

I prefer Tahiti (MK view) It's close to the TTC, not too far from the bus stop. It is a bit of a hike to the pool and GCH but I enjoy the walk through the lush landscaping, besides, you're at WDW, whats a few extra steps.

We were in the Samoa building, 1st floor, facing the Volcano pool. We were at the end of the hallway closest to the path to Captain Cooks and the GCH. This was an awesome location. We were close to everything.

If you're staying CL, the Hawaii building is awesome. Now that we've been spoiled by that with a "magical moments" upgrade, we may never stay anywhere else!

We have 3 kids 5 and under, so for us, the least amount of walking after a tired day at the parks is a must. For this trip, I have requested the Raratonga building because it's the closest to the GCH. And, my boys are monorail freaks, and I think they will enjoy a monorail view.

My vote is for Somoa, it's right between bothpools and great location to GCH. At night we had a great view of the Volcano pool with the GF in the backround.

i;m so glad some one posted this as I was wondering the same thing. I'm taking my DD with me (who will have just turned 5). So I was wondering what would be closest to the pool and the transportaion. I'm thinking it is sounding like Samoa.

How fo you request the room? Do you do it when you get there? Or call right before?

Maura

We were in this room too some years ago. I think its 1601. I think its one of the best locations. Front door to quiet pool, patio door to volcano pool and captain cooks. So close to beach and GCH.

We stayed in the Tahiti building, and to be honest I wouldn't request it again. It is just too far from the Great Ceremonial House. I think if I stay at the Polynesian again, it will be in the Garden View Concierge in the Hawaii building. It was just so much closer to the Great Ceremonial House! :wizard:

We will be arriving at about 10:30 on a Friday night, so I fear that our choices may be severely limited. I'm going to put a request with my reservation, but then I'm going to make a list of "acceptable" and "not acceptable" and see if I can at least get a room on my "acceptable" list.

We loved Tahiti for MK view! You have your own "private" beach right outside, the rooms are very large and you have double sinks in the bath. Hawaii is first choice though! Concierge is worth the $$$ for location, location, location!!! I can't help w/ garden view.

It's Fiji for us. Great view on either side for a 'garden view' price. Close to the GCH as well. :)

Somoa might be the one for us. It sounds like it has the best location for us.Thanks for responding everyone... this is very helpful

I have stayed in 4 different buildings at the Poly and this what works for my family and will do on our next trip. This is our economy choices first.

1st floor Rarotonga. You're a few steps away from the entrance to the GCH and on the other end of the building you have the bus stop and laundry room just as close. After a long day at AK or a water park it's nice to get off a packed bus and collapse in your room a short distance away. Same with the Monorail access on the 2nd floor of the GCH. You walk a little bit and are back at your room after a long day at MK or Epcot

My other choice is Samoa and with a patio or balcony view of the Volcano pool. You can see the lagoon and the GF and it's simply beautiful, IMO. You're for paying a garden view room, yet get a great view that most would envy.

For my money is no object choice.

I would take the Hawaii building and take a MK view and sit out on my patio with my camera at night and take some great shots of the fireworks. The food offerings with the fantastic Chef Dick and his staff are nice touch.

I second the choice of Samoa, volcano pool side room, if you can't spring for Hawaii!! Lagoon-view for the price of a garden-view...
On another note, does anybody have a comment about Aotearoa?

Lots of votes for Samoa, but I thought I read that it used to be a smoking building. I have two kids prone to asthma. Can anyone verify this?

What about Tokelau?

If they allowed some smoking it was done for just a few rooms and it's completely a non smoking building. Niue was the smoking building and I hated going in there because of the stench. I usually cut through buildings to stay out of the rain and get to the building (long house) I have a room in. Trust me, Niue stunk bad, but not anymore because Disney done away with smoking in the rooms. I went through Nuie several times during my stay and it smelled normal. I was so glad to see Disney make certain designated areas outside of the buildings just for smoking. You will have no problem with Samoa or any other building (long house) reeking of smoke

missypie - Are you arriving that late because you are driving? We are kinda of planning a similar arrival time but I just can't get it out of my head that I will be spending so much for a day that I won't really be there. I have toyed with the idea of driving a day earlier and staying someplace cheap about an hour away and then checking in nice and refreshed early the next morning........anybody have any thoughts or suggestions?
