Just back from a week's stay at the Poly. It was just wonderful. We stayed in the Tahiti house, garden view which was lovely. A wonderful gardenia bush that perfumed the air. My kids (2 and 4) loved walking the paths. We loved the pool and the view of the fireworks and water show. The room was huge. Pefect for a family of four. The room was clean, the resturants yummy and the staff very helpful. And the monorail - well, just the icing on a very wonderful piece of cake. Can't wait to go back.

Also - the best tip I found on this site was gardengrocers.com. We preordered a case of water, munchies and milk. Also ordered diapers and wipes to save packing space. GardenGrocer delivered on time to the hotel, the Poly bell staff kept it cold for us and delivered it right to our door. Just a terrific service - I highly recommend this especially for folks that have small ones like I do that like milk or yogurt drink first thing in the morning.

How was the Tahiti longhouse? I am requesting it for our next stay! Did you have 2 sinks in the bathroom? Did you find it too long of a walk to the GCH?

TIA!

Welcome back, I'm glad you enjoyed the Polynesian!! :sunny: I know a lot of people love the Tahiti building for it's location. :)

Thanks for the update. Our family is considering a stay there in 2008. My 17 year old son has wanted to stay there since he was 10.

Glad you had a great stay! We were there for the first time in April and can't wait to go back!!

Thanks for your review of the Poly... I am dying to stay here for my next trip to Disney, which probably wont be until at least 2009... but I am so excited, since it will be my first time staying deluxe!!

We'll be at the Poly this July... :woohoo: :cool1: :woohoo:

Anyways, it's great hearing good things about the Poly, especially before you are going to leave. I do have one question though... is the walk too long from the Great Ceremonial Hall to the Tahiti building?

~Simon :)

Thanks for the post... we are considering the Poly for our next stay. I love the idea of the grocer... did you find it cheaper or just more convienent? Everytime we look at the Poly pics we always think its nice but... .
and then start comparing it to other resorts... We have never stayed and the more good reviews I hear about it makes me want to! :)

Thanks for this - we are there in July for Tikifest and I can't wait :)

so glad to hear you had a great visit!

we are going in Sept. for first time. We will also have a 2 and 4 year old with us who must have their milk first thing in the morning and nearly survive on yogurt!

did a half gallon container of milk fit okay in your fridge? or did you buy a different size? I know they have that size on site.

I think we are going to use wegoshop.com since I also have a 14 and 12 year old going and we need the mega size snacks from Costco for all those mouths and they will shop there for us as well as at walmart.

any other tips for the toddler set to enjoy the Poly? did you use neverland club? do any of the kid activities? how about the splash fountain near pool?

would love to hear all those details!

I will never, ever, EVER stay anywhere except for the Tahiti or Rapa Nui. I too just got back and the room size was PHENOMENAL!! We were in 1036, lagoon, magic kingdom view. OMG, it was beyond awesome!!! We sat on our bed and watched fireworks......truly magical.

The larger rooms are soooooo much nicer and you don't know what you are missing until you try them.:)

Little known secret.....

If you are in the Tahiti: to get to the GCH quickly, walk to the old arcade and go THROUGH the Roratongo longhouse, you will end up right IN FRONT of the GCH and it takes maybe 4 minutes tops.:)

Can you tell I am a Tahiti "vet"......;)

ITA!!!

We've been in Tahiti twice in the past, and then were in Hawaii last year. Last month, we got Rapa Nui. It REALLY is nice to have the larger room ... it totally spoils you! And we loved being able to park just outside the building and walk to the TTC. I'm definitely going to request Rapa Nui for our next trip (whenever that is, LOL!!). :thumbsup2

Thanks for that great review of the Polynesian. My family and I are staying there this December for the very 1st time, so it's good to read a great review about it.

So many great things about Poly.

Truly the room size was a high point. We never felt on top of each other - even the bathroom with 2 sinks and plenty of space was great.

We were 3rd floor Tahiti with a garden view which was lovely. The fireworks and beach just at the end of the building a few steps away. But our favorite spot for fireworks was Fantasy Land. The fireworks go off right over your head - talk about magical. We loved it so much we did it 3 nights in a row. On the nights the park was closing after the fireworks we took our time strolling to the front, doing a bit of shopping - waiting for the crowds to clear out. This was excellent. And can I just put in a plug for renting the strollers. A double stroller was easy to use and my 2 year old slept like a champ when it got super late. Leaving was no stress. On the night of extra magic hours we walk around, got a bite to eat and then poof - everyone was gone. We rode everything over and over and over.

The fridge fit 2 1/2 gallons of milk, 2 packages of yogurt drink, severl juice boxes, 1/2 gal of OJ and bottles of water on the door.

The Poly choice for us was the lushness and the monorails. And I can't understate the excellence of the monorail. We were in the magic kingdom untoll 1:30am on Friday night and jumped on the monorail and was back at the hotel in minutes.

The Poly pool is great. The zero barrier was just perfect for my 2 year old. And they did play in the fountains but stayed mostly in the pool.

Also - my daughter loved getting her hair wrapped. The Poly has a person near the pool. It cost about $25 and will last up to 2 months.

The Poly table service resturants were very good - the table service was just like in the parks although I thought the breakfast choices were decent.

My husband and I hatched a terrific plan that I'd like to share with all the parents of small ones. We really ran our kids - staying out late, etc. so naps were essential. Also, if you have small ones - especially about 2 years old that don't do well in nice sit down, take your time, enjoy your meal resturants, you know that meals can be taxing to say the least. SO what my husband and I did was put the kids down for a nap around 2pmish and then ordered room service using our dining plan! If you order room service it uses 2 table service credits. So we would order an appetizer, main meal and dessert and split it. PLENTY of food, quiet and relaxing. The best part is the room service food comes from the good resturants so it was WONDERFUL. The burger is super, the Kona salad excellent - the ceaser too. One night for a late dinner we had Mahi Mahi - it was delicious. A terrific way to get a huge bang for the dining plan. One lunch was $60+!!!!!!! So if you have nappers and want a relaxing, yummy meal - take this tip and order in once the little ones are snoozing soundly. And the best part - once we were up and underway my husband and I were still full and focused on getting the kids fed at the park and then got a little snack later in the evening. No pressure!

We'll be back to Disney in probably 2 years and will stay at the Poly for sure!

Oh, lastly, we requested the Tahiti bldg in our original reservation. When checking in I mentioned this and got that building. No problems.
