We are planning a trip this November with three little ones (ages 5, 3 and 1)

Currently we are looking at the POFQ, and it seems very nice. However, I am wondering if the extra cost of the Poly is worth it.

Is it really that much better to be on the monorail with young kids?

Can we roll the strollers right on the monorail as opposed to folding them like on the bus?

Is the Poly that much nicer/the rooms bigger than the POFQ?

We will be spending quite a bit of time in the rooms because of the kids' naps, so should we switch to the Poly or stay with POFQ? All comments welcome!!

Hello! Personally, I think that the Poly is your best bet with young kids. The monorail is extremely convenient for mid-day breaks, or just to pop back to your resort. We stayed at the GF three times in a row, and this past trip in February we stayed at the Boardwalk...boy did we miss the monorail, because we were at MK a lot! I think that you will spend a lot of your time at MK, since you have young kids, so in my opinion, the extra money for the Poly is worth it. I can't remember if you can leave strollers open or not in the monorail, I believe that you can, but someone will correct me if I'm wrong! Any other questions, feel free to ask!

We have always enjoyed the Poly and I would say it's worth every penny, but I'm biased. Our ds10 loves it there and never left the pool, on our trip, in May. I think the Poly is great for children of all ages and your kiddo's will love playing in the sand. It's always a bonus to be on the monorail because children will get tired and cranky, it's only a short boat ride or monorail ride, from MK and EPCOT.:goodvibes

I think the Poly is definitely worth it.....especially with 3 little ones.....for the room size alone :goodvibes.....not to mention the convenience of the monorail....where you can roll the stroller right on :thumbsup2. Plus the beach is great to sit and watch the fireworks with just a short walk back to your room without having to fight the crowds out of the MK :). We LOVE the Poly and can't wait to stay there again as it's a beautiful resort ;).

With 3 young kids I would go with the Polynesian because of the bigger rooms, it's overall location and more transportation options.

A guy I work with just got back with his two young granddaughters and they stayed at the Contemporary. Ditto on the convenience; he said they spent much of the time at MK and at their pool, so it was so wonderful just hopping on the monorail and taking a nap, doing a swim and then going back out in the evening for dinner.

Also the rooms at Poly and CR are larger than most; because they were built before the 1970's energy crisis - back when they built resort hotels for comfort and not for the energy efficiency like they do now.

Our first trip to WDW was last year and we stayed at the Polynesian with our kids ages, 7,5, and 3. We just returned last night from Port Orleans Riverside for our 2nd trip.

The Poly was worth it for a 1st trip. Had a big WOW factor. The beach with the Electric Water Pageant at night...the tropical atmosphere. Kids were thrilled. Rooms are bigger with a bathroom door. Plus, it was much easier to simply hop on the monorail rather than catch a bus.

Ask for a building near the main house so you don't have to walk far to catch the monorail.

I say if you can afford it then go for it . It's definately a better move with the kids and if your going to be spending a lot of time in your room. It will make life easier. Have a Magical Trip :thumbsup2

We didnt stay at Poly but at CR so i would say Poly due to convenience. We too spent alot of time at MK (4 of the 6 days because me & my daughter just absolutely loved it there. We didnt care for the other parks such as Epcot & DHS). It made it so worth it to be able to hop on the monorail with the kids.

If you can swing it, yes, I would say that with young kids it would be worth it. Have you considered the Contemporary? You can actually walk to MK from there, the rooms are a little bigger than the Polynesian, and it's cheaper.

I too would vote for the Poly, but it is quite a bit more expensive so only you can decide if it is worth the cost to you. I haven't stayed at POFQ, but honestly for me, it is my least favorite of all the mods, mostly because it felt too close together - but for many that is what they like best about that resort, minimal walking once you come home from the parks? The Poly is lovely and relaxing, but it certainly is much more spread out in comparison to POFQ. Even though you get off at the monorail you may have a 5 to 8 minute walk to get to your room, which for many folks is not a big deal, but if you are pushing a stroller and trying to hang on to other little ones, it might be a big deal to you. As others have posted, having the use of the monorail can't be beat - it really is too convenient. My kids ages 9 & 14 wanted to go back to the room after just a few hours, so it makes vacation much more enjoyable. We went back and forth several times a day, when we went to Epcot and MK. But at AK and DHS, (since those parks aren't on the monorail) we didn't go back once the kids got tired (I rented a car too and we also used Disney transportation). I think you can have a great vacation at POFQ, just like you can have a great vacation at the Poly. If you can afford the Poly - go for it. If you prefer not to spend the extra $$$ POFQ would be a good choice with younger kids, just know that the rooms are not spread out like some of the other resorts. Have fun planning!!!

I have stayed at POFQ but not at Poly (although I would LOVE to). The conveince of the monorail - and yes you can roll the stroller right in (but I think they prefer to have them folded up, not sure) would add heavily to my "pro" column. It all depends on where you see your family spending most of your time. If it will be the MK, then stay closer to that. I liked the POFQ for the beautiful grounds, it's quiet and while you can't see the fireworks, you can go fishing, go on a carriage ride, or visit POR, which is within a 5min walk or hop a boat to Downtown Disney.
