Hi there! I am new to this forum but have been a "lurker" for years.

My family and I went to Disney last year and stayed at the CR and loved it. I am already starting to save for our 2008 trip. Its early but I am excited and want something to look forward to!

My family loved the CR but this year I am trying to convince them to try something new and stay at the Poly. I stayed there many times as a kid and have great memories.

A garden room view at the Poly is not much of a difference in price from the Bay View in the Tower of the Contemporary. If you stay garden view do you still get a balcony and are the views bad?

Can anyone recommend a garden view building?

Thanks so much - I am happy to be a new member!:goodvibes

Well you still get a newly redesigned room and a large room like you would at CR but the biggest bonus is being able to walk to the TTC for the Epcot Monorail.

If you do garden view you will have a range of views. You could have a view of the garden areas between buildings, a view of one of the pools, a view of the marina, a view of the beach, a view of the monorail, a view of the parkinlot (only a small handful of rooms in one building) or even a partial lagoon view. There are even some rooms in Tokelau that can see the castle from the garden view room. Garden view rooms also have a patio (open), balcony or a sliding glass door to a railing (no balcony).

If you decide to request a longhouse (only a request not a guarantee) than make sure you note it when you do your reservation.

Aloha

jeanninepl - welcome! I joined these boards before our spring break trip and received a lot of information and help with making sure we had a fabulous trip! We also stayed at the CR and LOVED it. I'm also trying to convince family to try Poly next year. It just seems that with the CR it is very cut and dry - Garden Wing or not, MK view or not. The Poly seems a lot more complex - or maybe I'm overthinking it :)

I'd take Poly over Contemporary any day of the week.

Well personally I like the CR better. I like the one building (I don't stay in the wings so the fact that they exist is a non-issue to me) instead of the separate longhouses, the rooms are much more to my tastes (the Polynesian's look nice, but a little oppressively kitschy) the restaurants are better (well California Grill is better than anything at the Poly), and I like the MK views better. In your case I think the Bay View rooms are nicer than 90% of Garden Views at the Poly (the few in Tokelau that have partial lagoon views of the castle and maybe some of the marina views are as nice)

That said, I wouldn't stay at the Contemporary if you are going when it is going to be renovated. I don't want to have to deal with the construction when I am there. I am probably going to go with the Poly. If you are there after the construction I would go with the Contemporary.
