Poly vs. Beach Club late Aug 2017

We are currently booked at the Poly for August 2017. We've stayed at the Grand Floridian the past two trips, and I keep second guessing myself about staying at the Poly. We stayed there in 2013, and came home with bite marks. They tested the room for bed bugs, and they swear it came up negative, but my husband and I were the only ones bitten- my daughter slept in a rented crib. The bites also look like bed bug bites. So we've stayed away for 4 years. I know you can get that anywhere- it happens. We are primarily trying the Poly because my husband is tired of the restaurants at the GF, and we thought the Poly theme would be fun in August. We love the BC, but with a 6 year old and a 1 year old, we live at MK.

I'm still not fully committed and may defect to the Grand. First world problems.

I agree I think it has to do with the manager. I believe house keeping is different with each resort. We stayed CL at the YC and what drove me crazy the whole time we were there was the house keeping carts were always n the hall but you can't blame them by the time they finish cleaning the rooms they have to start turn down service. Believe me we weren't the only family complaining one morning there was a line to speak to the manager. Hopefully they fixed it. And when we were there the pool as gated, no one was checking bands at the pool. Ppl would politely hold the gate 4 ppl to come in assuming they were guest of the poly. But who knows

We stayed at BC in August 2014. This year we are staying at the Poly.

We really enjoyed our BC stay and SAB was nice in the hot weather, but I think the Poly pool is just as nice honestly. Plus, we can watch fireworks from the beach and have the monorail, and we just really like being in the MK area.

The walk to Epcot and DHS is awesome from BC, except when it's 100 degrees with 100% humidity, like it is in August...it was awful being at the park and knowing we had to walk back to the resort in that heat, LOL.

I bet if you try Poly you'll love it. We own at BC and we try to stay there on most trips, but our second choice would be Poly. It is my wife's favorite. The kids might actually get a kick out of seeing the monorail out their window. I can't imagine it being all that loud as it isn't all that loud to begin with.

yikes! this scares me! LoL thanks for your input.
If you don't mind me asking what went on with house keeping? We are germaphobes lol so now you have me worried haha

Fwiw, I had the exact opposite experience. Loved the Poly, didn't care for the Beach Club. Going from the Poly to the Beach Club (we did a split stay) everyone missed the ease of hopping on the monorail to get to Epcot and the Magic Kingdom. The bus service at the Beach Club wasn't the best, with the buses being packed full and one trip to MK where we think the driver got lost--it shouldn't take 40 minutes ride time to get to the Magic Kingdom.

I also missed having decent quick service, who feels like having to walk into Epcot or to the boardwalk for food all of the time?

And nothing compares to being able to hang out by the pool while Wishes goes off.

How is the food at capt. cooks? the menu there sounds pretty good. Marketplace is pretty awful lol.
