Poly Transportation

I am staying at the Polynesian next week, and just learned of monorail being closed part time. Looks like it is closed midnight to 8:30 on Sunday and Monday nights. Then it is closed on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 - 6pm.

We had been planning on spending most of our time in MK with 2 young kids, with a double stroller. We chose the poly for the convenience of getting on the monorail to go back to the resort for naptime in the middle of the day.

What is the best alternative transportation?
How long does it take to get to MK by either bus or boat?
I have read that these can be full since it picks up other resorts first - does that happen often?

I am pretty frustrated that I paid for the Poly assuming we would have the ease of the monorail, and just learning that we don't. So any advice would be appreciated.

When we stayed there in the Summer they ran larger boats from the Poly directly to MK. I believe they ran busses as well. I would stay with the boat. I would NOT walk to TNT and take the Ferry. This will be very crowded with the day visitors. Even for them they ran Ferry's from both docks plus they also ran additional odd boats. While the monorail closure is unfortunate, I'm sure you will enjoy the Poly.

I think the 11:30-6 is just the express line

At this time of year, the ferry at the TTC should be wide open. We stayed in early December, and it was an easy walk from Moorea to the TTC and catch the ferry. You could also catch the monorail there to MK or Epcot.
The boats at the Poly dock are nice, but only hold about 20 people. If you don't see a crowd at the dock, that is a great option, but if the launches are crowded, I would go with the Ferry, which holds hundreds of people.

We are leaving today from the poly and the only monorail issues were mon/Tues it didn't start till 830.

I bet they will have extra boats and buses running during that time. Unfortunately it has to be worked on at some point. They have had alot of issues with the Monorail lately so hopefully this maybe a step towards fixing it.

would also go to the TTC and ride the big ferry. You can always get on - at least I have never been there when guests could not - now they definitely it close it on their schedule. but not because the ferry is full.

you can easily walk over from any of the DVC Poly lodges - short walk even at my age 5 to 10 minutes at most. it will let you out closer to the security lines than the buses or monorail.

Is the entire monorail shut down between 11:30 and 6pm or just the express line?
