HI,

We are thinking of booking the Poly for a 2009 trip. We will pay for a theme park view and will request upper floor in Tahiti. Here are a few questions I hope you can help me with:

a) I've read the rooms in this longhouse are huge and have double sinks. True?

b) how long of a walk from Tahiti to TTC? From the maps, it looks close.

c) being so close to TTC - as good as it seems? Any downsides? I figure being so close to TTC gives us quick access to the MK express monorail, the EPCOT monorail (without having to hit any other monorails first), and the resort monorail

d) I read that Tahiti is "far" from the pool and "main" buildings at Poly. With all the walking we do at WDW, is it really that bad? We were at YC last year, and we were down the far side, closest to the Swan/Dolphin. Sure, it took a few minutes to get to the lobby or pool, but it didn't really bother us. I'm assuming with the grounds at Poly, we won't be bothered either...but wanted others' opinions.

e) with Tahiti being a "newer" building, do ALL upper floor rooms have a balcony? Or are some of them "fake" like other buildings?

f) I've read that the shower water can "smell"...is this common? Is it bad? Does everyone notice this? Is this something to even worry about?

g) One of the main "negatives" I keep reading is with the mousekeeping. Are the complaints/negative posts the exception to the rule? Or does this seem to happen often?

Overall, we are thinking of it because it will be a new resort for us, the theming/grounds look great, Tahiti seems convenient to TTC, and the size of the rooms looks eniticing. Looking forward to your opinions!

Thanks!

a) Yes, the rooms in Tahiti are large... and the 'regular' rooms have double sinks in the bathroom (handicapped accessible rooms may have single sinks, in order to allow more space for the roll in shower).

b) Tahiti is very close to the TTC. That is one of the reasons that my family prefers this longhouse. It is also very quiet and peacful.

c) The ease of access to the monorails, and also buses from the TTC to DHS & DAK, is wonderful. Only downside I've ever heard people mention, on occassion, is that the ferry boat whistles bother some. We never had an issue with it, though.

d) While Tahiti is farther from the GCH & volcano pool than many of the longhouses... it really is not that far to walk. We never minded it at all. Took us maybe 5 minutes, tops. And it is a lovely stroll either along the beach or using the garden lined pathways.

e) All rooms in Tahiti longhouse have either balconies (2nd & 3rd floor) or a patio (ground level).

f) The water did not bother us. It is typical FL water--not great, but not unbearable either.

g) We've never personally had issues with the Mousekeeping at the Poly. All of our past Mousekeepers have done a fine job, and been very friendly and pleasant. I think this is one of those things that can be 'hit or miss' at any resort--it just depends on who is working your building/floor on any given day.

Thanks for the reply! Sounds like this would be a great choice if we can get our request granted. Appreciate it!

The Tahiti building is our favorite and I always request it for our stays. Matt's Mom gave alot of great information.

Yes, the rooms are more spacious than many others on the property. The bathrooms have large vanities with double sinks. Never had a problem with the water being odd smelling.

The Tahiti building is very quiet and only a 5-6 walk to the TTC. This is great for getting to Epcot. You can hear the ferry boat and it does have lights, but I never have trouble sleeping.

I love having a balcony or porch, so we usually go with a ground floor room. I definetely would request either the 1st or 3rd.

It really is not a long walk-5 minutes to the GCH or Nanea volcano pool. Unless it is pouring rain the walk is really enjoyable. The quiet pool is closer-less than 3 minutes away. The laundry room is right by the bus stop on the other side of the Neverland Club.

In all of the times we have stayed there (15 plus), we have never had a bad mousekeeping experience. The front desk can be a little slow for check in occasionally. Every trip has been more magical than the past. Have fun with your planning :goodvibes

another reply that is making us feel great about our plan...thanks!! Appreciate the info.

no problem-I think you will have a wonderful time ;)

Just don't forget that Tahiti is the farthest Longhouse away from the GCH. Last December when my family and I stayed at the Polynesian, while walking to the TTC we could not believe how far away it is.

We stayed in the Tuvalu, but I've onlly heard good things about Tahiti.

You'll love it!!

Our family also stayed in Tahiti and thought it was a great location. Just a few minutes to TTC and the beach is facing MK where you can see the fireworks perfectly.

Have a good time!

DW and I just stayed at Poly in May and had a 3rd floor Tahiti with MK view. The view was nice and we spent time every morning / night relaxing and enjoying the view .. it was nice.

The room was a good size with updated touches (flat screen, lighting) and the bathroom vanity was huge for two.

The walk wasn't bad at all, like said it was 5 mins to the main house.
