Poly smell Gone!!

Just visited last week,and the awesome smell that smacks you square in the face,as soon as you walk in has been replaced by some awful WAAAY TOO Strong Perfume smell.....a sad day in my life...it was better upstairs by Kona..but the Lobby area at GCH smelled like a French....uh... lets say Lady of the night.....

ahahah I was there last week too and I know exactly what smell you are talking about. It was overpowering!!!

Lets hope its only temporary...also the real good Poly specific merch. ..in Boutiki is dwindling....shame

Ah man, I liked the old smell of the Poly and I couldn't wait to smell it when we stay there in August. Why did they have to go and change it. The one thing I liked about Disney resorts was that each resort has their own distinct smell. Oh well .

UGH. Just tell me it isn't the same smell as in Beach Club. I can't stay in that lobby for more than 2 minutes and my eyes start watering and my nose starts to stuff up. It's awful.

I hope it is not the over-powering 'Norway' smell!! I made the mistake of trying a spritz of that years ago (WHY did I need to, since the whole 'country' reeks of it! ) Anyway, to this day, I can't get anywhere near Norway without feeling nauseous!

Very sad about the nostalgic Poly smell! Please tell me the CR and the Monorail still smell the same!

LOL I know exactly what you all mean. When me and my friend walked into the lobby it had a very strong smell of sun tan lotion. It was a little hard to bear.

Yeah,actually it did smell a bit like Norway...that Too Strong perfume smell...I'm going down next month,I'll be sure to check back

I stayed at the Poly last week and couldn't do much more than walk through to get to the monorail. The fragrance is overpowering to say the least. I first thought it was someone who had on a tad much perfume - the kind that activates my allergies with throat closing, eyes watering and fits of coughing. Asked a CM about the fragrance and was told it was the flowers! Ha! Really bought that one.... Later was told the fragrance was added to the water to mask the chlorine smell. Can't confirm the truth of that. Even if it is toned down the fragrance will never be a good one to me because of it's effects. I hope they take it away!

LOL....We went to the Poly for the first time on 2/16 and my husband said to me "I could never stay here...this place stinks!!!" I really didn't mind it myself, but said "I read on the disboards that people love the smell"! He said "NO #@$%# way!"

Now I can tell him...that wasn't the smell everyone liked!

I love the "normal" smell of the Poly! When we first enter and I get a whiff of the air, I know I'm "home"! I'm guessing the perfume smell is as someone said a CM told them....flowers. This time of year the flowers and flowering plants are blooming in Florida and with all those plants and flowering plants they have I'm sure it has something to do with that, at least I hope so!

We have been staying at the Polynesian for a while now and the past 2 times we walked in and breathed and it was that AWFUL perfume smell! I am allergic to a lot of strong perfume and my eyes water and I can't breathe. I really hope they get rid of it. The Polynesian is where we got married and I would like to spenders time in there.

We were there on May 17th, and I missed the smell too!!! POTC still had the same smell, and that made me happy!

Yes, the monorail still smells like a dirty bandaid, IMO. Ugh!! That smell makes me gag.

I smelt it too... Disney buys their smells from some perfume-ish type company and they all have names? I wonder if you complained if they would bring the old one back?

Ugh I hope it s not this way when I am staying at the Poly for the first time this Nov. Been looking forward to "the Poly smell" everyone talks about. Overly perfumery makes my asthma flare up

Anyone ever been to the Venetian in Las Vegas? They too have an overpowering old lady perfume smell when you walk in. If Poly smells anything like this, I may never go there again!
