If money isn't an issue, I would do either/both. We really enjoyed CL, and going to bed at night listening to the sounds of the WDW Railroad and the Haunted Mansion - not to mention the castle changing colors - is wonderful.

You can hear the sound of the lone wolf that comes from the Haunted Mansion. Love it!

We chose Poly for that same reason - I also heard about the rumored total refurb & wanted to stay there before it happens!

Do you know when the refurb is happening? All at once or by longhouse? Planning on an August 2012 visit. Thanks.

Total rumor, but I've read about it from a few different sources (one of them being Tikiman who has a lot of "ins" with Poly management)...supposedly the resort has some water & structural issues & the "rumor" is that the entire thing will be torn down & re-created from the bottom up. No idea if it will be changed or modeled after the current resort. From the info is sounds as if the entire thing will be done at the same time, taking at least a year, and the resort will be completely closed during it. Again, it's just a rumor, but I'm sure since nothing's been officially announced it won't be happening any time in 2012.

It depends on what you like OP. For us, we are fine with the garden view room - done it 4 times now with our kids. If we want to see fireworks, we go to the beach - it's not like it's a far walk from any of the longhouses.

Absolutely!! I would definitely spend the extra money to upgrade. You will really enjoy club level.
