Do you think it is worth it to upgrade to a room with a view? How about club level? Will be traveling with 5 and 7 yo. Thanks!

It's a personal pref. For us, no. We were very happy in a GV room in Tokelau. For us it was more important to have a balcony. And I think for you it may be with 2 young ones, it would be nice to have a blacony to escape to while they are going to sleep.

We were happy being able to see MK & the Castle walking along the Poly beach.
And many GV views are nice.

Tikiman has a great web site on Poly. Tons of info. http://www.tikimanpages.com/tiki/

We have been to the Poly several times and three of those trips have been CL. I truly love the landscaping at the Poly and have been super happy just to have a garden view. Nothing like looking outside to see a bunny right on the lawn in front of your room. :) Water view is nice, but for the money I would personally go with a garden view but at the PP pointed out it is a personal preference.

As for CL.. Well, for my family it's awesome. We were just at the Poly for 10 days in September and we stayed GV-CL. We spent almost every morning in the lounge for a quick breakfast, had a few afternoons/evenings for a snack and then did dessert multiple nights. We also used the services of the concierge multiple times. For us that upgrade is worth it.

One things we happen to love about the Poly CL is the ability to enjoy the fireworks from the lounge. On the nights we made it back to the resort early we were able to enjoy Wishes. One night we were lucky enough to watch Hallowishes with the sound piped in. It was fantastic.

When my boys were that age, we upgraded to a castle view. They could lay in bed in their pajama and watch the fireworks before they went to sleep. My husband and I would sit on the balcony, chat and watch the castle change colors. We felt it was worth it.

At that age Theme park view could be a good upgrade, perhaps the Tahiti building. CL is a harder call given the extra price. For us, CL is terrific and all the kids staying there seem to love it.

In one word....no....how much time will you spend looking out the widow? Especially for the extra money....granted it's nice but it comes at a hefty price.....a few minutes each day is not worth the view for us....

As for CL...again...to us...no....we've done alot in the past but for what they ask for the limited offerings and having to be there during their serving times...plus at the Poly, the lounge was aways jammed with guests and alot of small children....not worth the money.....

We figure for the cereal offerings and what not in the morning, fish crackers and small tib bits at noon and whatever offering in the evening and beverages.....we just get a regular room, hit the grocery store before hand and load up on what we like and want, same goes for adult beverages and set up the room like CL but at a way chaeper cost, served when we want it and not fuss with other guests....we're usually at the pool when we're not in a park and our supplies go with us there.....

CL rooms are no different than a regular room, as for a few mints on my bed, I'll buy a big bag at the store, same for turn down, anywhere you can request turn down service, no big deal there and we always throw off the comforter when entering the room anyway.....

As I said, it's all in the eyes of the beholder and the depth of their pocket but in reality to us....CL is not worth the cost....

I haven't heard wonderful things about Poly CL. Other resorts have better CL offerings. They way I see it...the price for CL can go along way at Capt Cooks. And the GV rooms have lots of options. Maybe the kids would like a monorail view room. I'm going to the Poly (GV) for the first time this Feb and I have requested third floor so to be sure to have a balcony. I am going to just let the Disney Magic figure out what longhouse and what view :)

For me, I want a magic kingdom view, but more often I'm practical and book a garden view. We've had magic kingdom view twice, once with a balcony and once without. Both times the castle was blocked from my view while laying in bed or sitting on the balcony (the rails were at my eye level), but I still liked having it. As far as club level, if I wanted to splurge, maybe, but I'd have to think hard as magic kingdom view is about the same price club garden view.

Sue thanks for the link, I'm loving that Tikiman site!!!

We have never gotten a theme park view room, but we have stayed in a garden view room and a CL garden view room. Both were wonderful. If money is not too much of an object, I would totally go for a theme park view room in the CL building, that would be amazing.

If I had to choose between CL and the view, I would choose CL and get a garden view room. That is what we had on our last trip and it was wonderful. Our garden view was lovely tropical foliage, but the lounge was 2 seconds away so we had that gorgeous castle view whenever we wanted it. I watched the fireworks every night from there. The CL amenities were wonderful and we loved the convenience of the food at the lounge. The proximity too the beach and pool (and main building) were great.

good luck with your decision!

Tikiman is great! "Like" him on Facebook and you gets lots of updates and tips. He told us about the big rumor that they are remodeling the Poly. Like so big a remodel they are switching the CMs to a different hotel for a while! That is one big reason we decided to stay there this year...because we may not ever get the chance to stay at the "original" Poly again. I'm sure they will just make it better, but I wanted to stay there once as is first :)

CL at the Poly is totally worth the upgrade. The convenience of breakfast, drinks and snacks available in the CL building is great. I know that lots of people bash the CL offerrings at the Poly, but we love them. As for view, I wouldn't pay to upgrade. Seems like a waste to me.

I totally agree! I think the offerings are very good and plentiful. The passion fruit tartlet is amazing. Wish I would have asked for a recipe! The CL CMs are also very nice. We were lucky enough to come across some very nice CMs that stocked both vanilla and chocolate soy milk for my girls and a 12 pack of root beer for my son. They are absolutely fantastic. :thumbsup2

We chose Poly for that same reason - I also heard about the rumored total refurb & wanted to stay there before it happens!

We loved our garden view room at the Poly. We haven't stayed CL at the Poly yet, but I can't wait to give it a try on our next trip. With that said, if we didn't book CL, we would go with just a GV as the extra expense for a lagoon or theme park view just wouldn't be worth the extra cost to me.

CL was a splurge for us. My kids were 7, 9, and 12. It was so wonderful. They felt like it was their additional space. they ate and watched Disney on tv. We ate and enjoyed the view. The additional space was so nice . The nightly offerings were delicious while we were there. We just all really appreciated it. My kids really surprised me. I did not think they would care so much, but they truly enjoyed it.

We were in a Garden View, patio (first floor) in Rarotonga last week (Dec. 12 - 18th) and absolutely enjoyed the privacy of the greenery and view we had of the monorail. You cannot beat the convenience to the restaurants, laundry, Neverland Club, the monorail and the quick 5 - 10 minute walk to the TTC. It was quiet and extremely peaceful there.

I walked over to the beach a couple times and the view of the castle was nice but the castle seemed so small and far away; I'm glad we didn't pay for a theme park view!
