Hi all! We'll be staying at the Polynesian very soon and were wondering what your thoughts were on the best location to request once we get there. It's been a few years since we've stayed there but I know we'd like to be close to the Great Ceremonial House. We have booked a Garden View room and have two small children with a double stroller. I've looked at the resort map and although staying as close as possible to the Great Ceremonial House sounds like the way to go (if its available), I was wondering if it might be smarter to stay in the building closest to the TTC. With all of the problems the monorail has been having the past few months it might be a good idea just to plan on walking to the TTC to take the ferry to MK. Where do you stay when you go to the Poly? I'd love some recommendations!

We always request 1st floor Samoa hopefully on the volcano side. It's close to the GCH and what we consider a short walk to the TTC. We enjoy the 1st floor patios, it gives you a little extra space. There is a boat from Poly to MK if you don't want to take the monorail. The only time you will need to go to TTC is when you go to EP.

We also love Samoa. The Poly isn't that big that it takes long getting around from any longhouse, but we love the close proximity of Samoa to the GCH, the volcano/quiet pool, the beach, and Captain Cooks. We would be happy in any longhouse, but Samoa would be our first choice.

We are going in March and after TONS of reading I picked Samoa only to find out later it is undergoing renovations then.....I was recommended Toleaku, so if Samoa doesn't work out maybe try it next

Please take a look at Tikiman’s pages http://www.tikimanpages.com/tiki/ as he has the updated refurbishment schedule for the Poly and lots of pictures and other information. It may impact your request. Samoa, Niue and Tokelau are the most requested, with Tahiti coming in next due to proximity to TTC.

We stayed in Tahiti TPV and love the close proximity to the TTC and the view, but it was a bit far for frequent runs to the GCH and a trek to and from the Volcano pool. Not too long, just not as convenient as the other longhouses listed above. We will be requesting Samoa or Niue depending on closures for our April trip as we are going to be doing more Poly time this trip. If you are commando in the parks, I’d request Tahiti, if its GCH and Poly pool time then Samoa or Niue.

We were there for a week in April and never experienced a monorail issue. Monorail issues are hit or miss unless there is planned outage due to construction at the DVC at the Grand Floridian. The most recent problem was an inadvertent power failure. I’d take my chances on the monorail and use the ferry or boat launch as my back-up. That’s the beauty of the Poly, three ways to get to the MK.

Have fun!

Having stayed at the Poly twice and doing extensive research here are my thoughts...First visit we rolled the dice and got Samoa third floor corner room overlooking the Volcano Pool, GF, the resort and out in the distance the lake. It was WONDERFUL!!!! So on or next visit last year we asked for Samoa again. We were also traveling with my mom and brother so we asked for adjoining rooms. Well we got Samoa and adjoining rooms BUT it was overlooking the quiet pool or rather should I say the maintenance hut roof top. I was so bummed. It was my moms first visit and I didn't want it to be starting at a rooftop. Went to front desk and only other available rooms were in Fiji..They were across from one another. One side looks over the beach area and GF, while the side I was on looked over the marina, the lake, and the back of the Volcano slide, and off in the distance is the CR...I LOVED LOVED the Fiji...So close to GCH, yes a little further than Samoa, BUT it is literally 5 minutes. I have knee issues where i need to wear braces and if i can do it in 5 minutes you will be fine....

You will love the resort its beautiful!!!!!!
