Poly Room Assignment Question

We are going to be staying at the Poly for the first time next month. Other than asking for a room near the GCH, I think we've decided to leave it up to the tiki gods to determine what room we get! :) For a control freak like me, this is a big deal! So my question is...what happens if we get to our room and hate it - like it looks at the parking lot or a dumpster? :confused3 Is it possible to ask to change rooms, even if its just to a different "garden" view?

Or should I just go ahead and request a specific longhouse? I'm leaning towards Somoa.

Thanks!

If they have other "open" rooms you shouldn't have a problem changing garden view rooms. If I were you on would go on AllEars and pick out a building you like & put in a special requests.

Have fun!::MinnieMo

It never hurts to ask. I also think checking in early helps. When I checked in on July 26th at 10am, I got sent right to my absolute best possible room assignment. Ground floor Samoa facing the volcano pool. The two ladies who checked in next to me got upgraded to concierge from garden view (its sounds funny but I'm not a concierge type so I was much more stoked to get the close proximity to the Volcano for the sake of my kids. Once the smoke clears, I also think Niue will be a great location for garden view.

We requested ground floor Samoa also when we went early last Dec. and got Rapa Nui, a good hike from GCH. We asked for something closer and was told there was absolutely nothing closer. And we were checking in early also. Other times we got exactly what we wanted (Tokelau - with no other qualifications). Make a request but don't expect anything. If you have a garden view you shouldn't have to worry about facing the parking lot or dumpster.

We just got back from the Polynesian this week. Like the previous poster we had requested Samoa or Fiji and got assigned Rapa Nui on the parking lot side. Guess what, the view was very nice (we couldn't see the parking lot because of the landscaping, there was absolutely no traffic at the small parking lot outside Rapa Nui, we loved being just steps to our rental car, and enjoyed the slightly larger room and 2 sinks in the bathroom. We liked Rapa Nui so much (when we always thought it would be our least favorite longhouse) that my wife wants to request it next time.

Definetely have a back up longhouse in mind. We also ask for samoa lst or 3rd floor. We have also stayed in aerotora and I could live with rarotonga. Niuie was totally smoking so I dont know how the smell is there. Be polite when you check in. Also dont know if anyone from the AKL is being assigned to the Poly then. If so it could be crowded. Best of luck and have a great trip.

When we stayed at the Polynesian, all I asked for was a nice view from the balcony since that was the most important thing for me. I couldn't have gotten at better room if I had requested it down to the letter. Tokelau, 3rd floor (we were just two adults), and our view was towards the Grand Floridian and the marina. That was for a standard garden view.
