Poly request? Can you tell me what to do?

I've pretty much decided that we'll just get what we get when it comes to longhouses at the Poly. Part of the "Disney magic" right? I did make the request that we have nonsmoking. It's a garden view room too. So, my question is, should I make any additional requests before we go such as which floor? I really would like a balcony and I know there aren't any on the second floor, right? If I do request, do I fax the Poly, or call the reservation number again? What works? Advice?

You don't have to request non smoking, they are all non smoking now. On that note, I would request a balcony if you really want one! Good luck!

My garden view room last year had a lovely balcony view of the monorail and parking lot. I would probably ask if they have anything else. We loved the hotel, but we arrived really late and scraped in bottom of the VIEW barrell.

I always ask for Samoa, lst or 3rd floor volcano pool view. Do I get it? No. The one time we had airplane problems and didnt arrive until 11 pm. We did get samoa, 3rd floor, but it was not the volcano view, it was the view of tree tops and the hawaii concierge bldg. I always try to check in early and if I dont like what is offered, I politely say, I am willing to wait if you can show me any other rooms that would be available etc. That has worked several times. Don't demand and just be polite to the cast members. They will do their best for you.
