We'll be there in one week! I can hardly wait - our first stay at the Poly. I am ready to send in our fax on Thusday for Monday check-in. One question though - I thought refrigerators were standard now. Is this something I have to request in advance?

Also, we'll be arriving about 11:00 am. Should I include this in the fax and hope that I can get an early check-in and Tokelau Longhouse? My plan is to eat at the resort and then head over to AK. I know that they will store our bags and give us our park passes but we have PS at Ohanas that night and are going to be pushed for time before dinner.

You most likely will be able to get into your room at least by the time you've gotten something to eat. We've never had an issue other than stays at DVC. But as far as the faxing goes, please understand that a lot of the resorts are not even looking at the faxes anymore! They just put them in the trash. There were so many people sending them I guess they got swamped. So, be sure you have listed everything you need on your reservation. We asked for non-smoking, Tokelau longhouse, second or third floor. We got exactly what we asked for. It is only a request but we lucked out!!!

princess: princess: I would just ask for fridge on check-in there where some reports if you pre- request fridge they where still charging for it. So I would not take the chance. We just got back, and I asked for fridge on check-in, we had to call housekeeping again & request it, cause it didn't come but then they brought it right up.

We did NOT fax & I got my request. Just did the CRO request. No problem. They are very accomadating if they are able. I used to fax, but it never seemed to make a difference, during busy summer months, it was the luck of the draw if you get a request, so I stopped faxing. If its not busy when you go, you should get what you want.

As for OHana's I would get there EARLY! That place was Nuts every nite we were there (9 nites). And the crowd never seemed to thin out, from open to close. We like the bar there and it was over run with people waiting for ohana every day.

Have a great time, and good weather! Mky princess:

We have been staying at the Polynesian for years. DS2 has had Type I diabetes since 1988 so we've needed a refrigerator on every trip since then. I used to always request one when I made my reservation. After many trips, I have found that delivery won't be made until you actually call Housekeeping from your room. I suppose it is because the assigned rooms may get changed.

Long explanation but I would just call once you are in your room.

we just got back from the poly 2 weeks ago. we stayed in rarotonga. there was no refrigerator in the room. on the way to the monorail i asked someone at the front desk if they could bring one up to the room. they fiddled with the computer and said we were all set and they would bring one right up. we were there for 3 days and never saw a refrigerator :confused3 . i should have asked again but we ended up being able to manage without it.

Thanks for all of your replies. We will be there next week and I've called three times and was assured by CM's that fridges were in the deluxe rooms. I definitely believe disboard members more! I don't understand why there is so much conflicting information from CM's lately.

I called the Poly directly too. I was so sure that I had read there were frigs in the rooms I just couldn't believe it. It seems that for what you pay for a deluxe you would certainly get a frig. Well - the CM at the Poly told me no - they are not in the rooms you have to request them upon check-in and it is first-come,first-serve. I asked about including this on my fax and she said it really wouldn't do any good, it still has to be requested upon check-in.

I didn't ask if there is an additional charge - I was so sure that they were included. I was planning on making a grocery stop on the way to the resort. if there is no frig it will make a difference as to what I get. We won't have a car to go out later........ Oh well - i guess this seems to be a silly thing to worry about but when you are a planner - like I am - its these little things that make you crazy.

Okay, now I'm a little worried because we'll be stopping at a grocery store before checking in around 6:00pm so I'll have milk, not to mention my prescription eye drops I take have to be refrigerated. ??

the refrigerator situation at the Poly for all of us planners and grocery shoppers out here. If they are first come, first serve on the week after Easter when it is so busy then we could be out of luck.

I emailed my TA and she said that Disney says that all the refrigerators are in all the rooms at Polynesian so there is no reason to request them. Of course, I believe what DISers are saying, but that must be what the CMs are telling people/TAs. I wish we knew for sure. I really have to have one and I don't want my milk, etc. getting warm waiting for one!

This is really strange. When I called the Poly the person I spoke to said no frig unless requested. When I expressed concern about my arrival being Easter week and would there be any available I was basically told that there was no guarantee.

I'm sure that when I made the ressie and was trying to decide between POR and Poly one of the selling points was the queen size bed, bigger room, and frig. I only have the one opportunity for the grocery run and it would be very nice to know there was a frig.

Maybe I just need to chill but its the conflicting info, or no info at all, thats bugging me more than the frig itself (ALTHOUGH I WANT ONE). I also can't get confirmation in writing of my reservation. I've called twice and they have the ressie - and my money - and assured me not to worry but they'd "put another request in" for written confirmation.

This time next week is our Epcot day and all worries of a frig or not will be behind me. But for what we are paying it just seems to me that there should be no question.

Sorry about conflicting info, BUT I can tell you WE checked in March 10 >19th 2005, and the poly had NO fridge. I asked at check in. They played in computer and said "no problem" you will have one. That was about 9am check in. Our room was NOT ready (due to request) till 3:45pm and NO Fridge. I called when I got in room to mousekeeping and they said "we have No record of your request" but will bring you one. They where there about 1/2hr, to 45 minutes. It is a small "dorm" type black fridge the poly has used the last few years.

PORS > We were there before our cruise 2 days march 1&2 and again 6>9 The fridge IS in the room. They have a wood cabinent made for them next to the tv. The fridge is twice the size as the poly's. (at least). We still don't understand this. You do not have to ask for them.

Hope this helps. Mky princess:

I wonder why the Poly isn't adhering to what is supposed to be standard now in all the moderates and deluxes?? I guess they WILL provide one if you ask, but still, I think they should just be there. I have yet to hear of anyone who got one right when they asked; they usually have to ask a few times a few hours later. Bummer. I'm going to be mildly upset if my milk that I get from my grocery stop has to be nonrefrigerated for very long. :guilty:

But who actually says that it is standard in the deluxes? WDW doesn't list it as an amenity the last I knew. I know some web sites say so but that doesn't make it true.

Maybe her source is one of those internet sites. ;)

Have fun planning. You're getting close aren't you? :flower:

Called in early January and a CM told me that ALL deluxes and mods have fridges as of Jan. 1.

My TA even called the Poly after I told her a few DISers had checked in and no refrigerators, and whoever she spoke with said they were in all the rooms. Hmm...interesting, isn't it? I'm more inclined to believe people who've actually STAYED there, not the people who work there.

Anyways, I'm excited regardless. It's just a little thing as long as we get one eventually. We leave in 30 days!!!!
