Question on Poly concierge - would you stay lagoon view or garden view for the price? We are looking at moving our ressie and wondering about which we should try for. Okay, another question...I know in the CR MK view to ask for an odd number room so that we can lay in bed and see Wishes. What about odd/even rooms at the Poly? Does anyone know about Hawaii longhouse or Tahiti longhouse and whether odd/even room requests will allow us to be in bed to watch wishes? Kids are little, so usually in bed during the show. Great memories!!!

I have stayed in both sides, and if your into the fireworks it's great to literally be able to sit and look out your room at the end of the day and enjoy the show. Another awesome thing that would always happen with our son (2 1/2), is he would wake up and run to the sliding door, and say "mickey's castle...look..mickey's castle" lol.

The reason my parents and I are staying in a Garden View room in the Hawaii Longhouse is because it was less expensive then a Lagoon View, so when we made our reservations there we could have picked either one since both were available. Since we have had so many Tower Magic Kindgom view rooms at the Contemporary it's not like we have not seen the fireworks from our room, so we don't mind watching them from the beach because we are looking forward to it. Besides that I also know we can watch them from the lounge so it's not like I am going to miss them because we are staying in a Garden Wing room.

If you really planned on spending alot of time in your room, then I would go for the Lagoon view. We opted for garden view, because it was much cheaper and we were really only on our balcony in the morning. One thing you have to be careful of is that the 2nd floor doesn't have balconies. I am not sure how the lagoon side is, but I think in the Hawaii building the 2nd floor does not have balconies. I would assume this would include the Lagoon side. So, you might pay extra for the view and not have a balcony to really enjoy it. You can request a 3rd floor or 1st floor. I am just not sure how it works when booking the Lagoon view, I always get garden.

CR Resort Fan - Hi, usually run into you on the CR thread! We are following your lead and changing to the Poly for 2008. Last trip we did the MK Tower and it was amazing. We are thinking the same thing about Poly concierge and will probably book a Garden View room also and just plan on watching from the lounge or beach. We have made the decision to do Poly in 2008 then WL in 2009 just to try some of the different resorts. No plans on GF yet, to me that resort seems more like one to do with either older kids or no kids.:)

I would go for the Lagoon room. It will be great for the little people and yourselves to have the view of the fireworks right form your bed.

I'd go with GV. We've had both, and I can't honestly say the lagoon view is any better than gv.

As for fireworks from your room, you'd really need a MK or Castle view room (not sure which it's called) to see those. It's a separately priced room from gv. Anyway, we like to see Wishes from the pool while swimming.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I changed my reservation this morning to Poly Club Level Gardenview. It was about a $900 difference from lagoon view and while I would love to have it, we had it (MK view) last year at CR so at least I can say we did it once! I don't think we will be disappointed. From what I've read, the grounds are beautiful and so many of the rooms have great views.

I think you made a wise decision. In our times at the Poly, it's hard to imagine a "bad" view at the Poly.

However, I just wanted to make sure it was clear that lagoon view and MK view are not the same thing. MK view, or castle view, is a separately priced room category from lagoon view. I've had a lagoon view room before that had no possible view of the castle because it faced away from it, although it was still a great view of the pool, etc.

My mom and I are booked for the Poly Concierge from December 6 - 10, 2007. I had requested a view of the castle and I truly hope I get it. One thing I cannot understand is that when booking I was told (as usual is the case) that there is no guarantee of a view of the castle. If I am paying for the higher price I would think that I would be able to get it. I would be extremely pissed if we don't. This trip is for my mom's 65th birthday (December 8th) and this is the first and last time we are doing Concierge. If we were not DVC members we would hardly ever go to Disney. And if we did we would be staying off-site due to price. This trip is costing me two months salary. Gulp!

The only room category you could book that would "guarantee" a MK view is the "Theme Park View" category, which is actually much less expensive than the concierge categories of rooms. There's no way the Poly can guarantee an MK view in rooms that may or may not face MK. I don't even know if the building concierge rooms are in even faces in the right direction to see MK.

When I look up the Poly on the WDW website, the Theme Park View category is the only one listed as having any chance of seeing MK.

You shouldn't be "pissed" if you don't see MK from a non-theme park view room. Concierge rooms are pricey because of the extra services and snacks/drinks offered, not because of the view. It's quite possible to have a better view from a lagoon view room without concierge than a concierge lagoon view room.

If you are in the Hawaii longhouse (concierge) lagoon view , you WILL have a direct view of the castle. ---- there is no MK view choice, here , they all have a view of the castle on the lagoon side! have a great time!

That is mostly true, although there are some palm trees on the beach, so some rooms might have an obstructed view of the castle... but even those you can see it from parts of your deck. I think that's why they use that language.

We stayed there in August, and loved it. I know it's expensive, but we would do the lagoon view again... since we only go every few years at most.

One thing I would recommend ... if you're spending the extra for a lagoon view, I'd highly recommend a 3rd floor room. 2nd floor has no balconies, and while first floor is right on the beach... I feel like you have to keep your curtains closed a lot if you want privacy.

But up on the 3rd floor we left the curtains open all night, and watching the castle change colors all night (we had NO idea it did this) was just fantastic.
