Poly or WL?

What would you do and why? Staying two days in June at a MK resort before a DCL cruise. I'm sure the Poly will be more expensive, will we like the WL as much? Monorail is the biggy, is the boat to MK as convenient? We come from the "Woods" so maybe WL would be too much like home. Never stayed at either, and eventually want to stay everywhere on site. Thanks.

I was considering much the same question... but I had also included the Contemporary in there as well... on this last trip we went to the Poly for the Luau, and I didn't like it... found it to be too dark. Made a side trip to the Contemporary to give the lobby and such a once over... didn't like it, it was too stark! Based on two friends recent trips to the Poly I'm going to try the WL... one friend didn't like the Poly as much as they liked the GF (so I don't give much weight to that opinion, since I doubt I'll be staying at the GF anytime soon!).. the other has stayed at the WL prior to this trip to the Poly and said they would never go back to the Poly. One of the things they disliked the most was the fact that to get to the lobby they had to go outside (not that big a deal for those of us who don't mind the Value and Mods)... he said the Monorail was nice, but he likes the boat to MK just as well... he also said the rooms were noisy... maybe that he had a loud group next to him, but it made me more reluctant to stay there.

We have stayed at both and love both (not much help, sorry). I can say that the boat ride from WL to MK is very convenient, just about as convenient as the monorail to the Poly.

both are great! I have stayed at the poly and have visited WL. The ferry is very easy from the WL, but the poly has the Monarail and is very close to the TTC. Poly is more $, but it is just as cool as the WL. I would say go for the POLY you can't go wrong there!!! hope this helps.

They are both great resorts. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Both are themed very well.

We stayed at WL and enjoyed the boat to MK. I will tell you Poly rooms are larger. This was the only thing we disliked about WL. We felt cramped and there was just DH, DD and I. We toured the Poly rooms that same trip and saw they were larger. Besides the rooms though I think both are big winners! :)

we've stayed at both,
and we like the Polynesian better because the rooms were much larger.
As for convenience, the boat is as easy as the monorail.

WL is louder...and I think that is because of the openness of it.

WE much prefer the WL to the Poly!
I think the Boat is just as convient as the monorail. I prefer the size of the WL also. And all round appearance.

I would say the Polynesian because you can take the monorail and boat to the MK. The Contemporary is also a good choice to consider because you can walk to the MK as well as take the monorail.

They are both great resorts. Do you prefer boats over monorails as transpo?:D They are both fun, but you may have a preference. On a warm day, riding across the lagoon on a boat could be a lot of fun. On a hot or cold day, the monorail would be a blessing. It's NW lodge theming vs. tropical theming...which do you prefer?

We stayed at the WL this December and loved it. We have only stayed at moderates in the past. One thing we liked was everthing being in one building. We never minded on our previous trips that we had to walk outside to get to the food court, etc... but when we went this year we got A LOT of rain and I am glad we could get to where ever we wanted in our resort by staying dry. We did visit the Poly this trip and it looks very nice. I would love to try it. We are going back in Oct (2003) and I have WL booked again (we really did love this resort) but may change just to try something else. As someone else posted, the rooms are no bigger than POR or POFQ. We enjoyed Whispering Canyons for breakfast one morning and Roaring Forks for quick bites. The pool was pretty and we did get to use it a few times. I would not hesitate to stay here again!
