DH, DD5, DS2 and I are heading to WDW Oct 26-30 for a quick trip to MNSSHP. We are staying at POP for the first 2 nights and debating either Poly or WL for the last 2 nights. We want to be close to MK for convenience after MNSSHP. Last year, we stayed at WL and loved it. Have not stayed at the Poly since our honeymoon 8 yrs ago, but that was CL. We loved it!

I love WL because it's all under one roof. Not sure why that matters to me, but I like that. We stayed at the GF one year in an "outer building" and felt very disconnected. While I love the Poly, I fear I might feel the same way this time.

We're using an AP discount so the cost is only a little more for Poly. Cost isn't really the factor here, just trying to figure out convenience and comfort.

Thoughts?? Thanks so much!!

Both resorts are great! If given a choice between the two, I would pick the Poly. You can travel not only by boat but also by monorail. My kids loved taking the monorail. You also will have a much bigger room. If you choose the Poly, request a room by the GCH. I'm sure your kids will love either resort.

Just to offer another opinion, we stayed at WL (which we love) but visited the Poly for dinner because DW thought she would really like to stay there. We walked all around and over to the TTC, and we got that disconnected feeling. We especially wouldn't have wanted to do it in the rain. After the visit, DW felt she definitely wouldn't pay more to stay at the Poly because of the "multiple roofs" and being spread out like you mention.

They are all nice though, and for transportation options the location of the Poly is awesome to have the monorail station right there and the ability to walk to the TTC monorail to save a lot of time in getting to Epcot. Either way, you gotta love Disney. Enjoy!

We requested a longhouse by the Volcano pool and GCH and was put 1st floor Niue. We loved it!! Steps to the pool, GCH and Captian cooks. We took the monorail every time to MK and found it very easy and quick.

I would pick the Poly as the rooms are larger, the theme is wonderful and good transportation options to MK.

We have stayed both places and love them both. If they were almost the same price, I would choose the Poly. We love the monorail, esp. if it is a quick trip. If I had to pay full price I would always pick the WL. No matter where we stay (even off resort with family) we always have dinner and fireworks at the Poly.

My 2 cents ... Since you've stayed at both I think you are probably the best person to answer that question. I've never stayed at the POLY, just the WL, (Visited the POLY several times) and do not care for the POLY's theming but it seems like a very convenient location ... more so than WL. Personally, I would choose the WL for the reasons you've mentioned and It just happens to be my favorite out of all the deluxes. The WL is a bit more isolated and "disconnected" from the "monorail" resorts as a whole but I think thats part of it's appeal.

Thanks everyone for your thoughtful responses :) We decided to go with the Poly because of transportation convenience. It's a quick trip and we are only planning to spend time in the MK and Epcot, so Poly makes sense. Our kids are also at an age where the pool matters and we will likely spend the morning at the pool before MNSSHP, then naps (hopefully)!

While we did stay at both resorts, CL level at the Poly almost felt like a resort within a resort. You don't get the disconnected feeling, but I think all factors considered, this is the best choice for this trip. Plus, we own DVC so staying at the Poly is rarely an option. Thanks again!!

We picked WL for our trip last week for the reasons you mentioned, all under one roof. It was a good things since we had rainy weather and I we like WL. Rooms have been refurbed too. But we have also stayed at Poly previously for 3 different vacations. Polynesian gets my vote overall if they are close in price. We just love it there.

Hands down the poly! If you want convience to MK it wins over WL. I also like the fact you can watch fireworks from the beach at the poly. We stayed there 11 years ago and loved it. If money wasn't an issue we would go back in a heartbeat!

I think you made a great choice with the Poly :thumbsup2. We've stayed at both and while we love the WL, the Poly is our favorite :goodvibes.

Glad you picked the Poly....it would be my choice every time!

I'm super excited! The kids have never stayed at the Poly and our DD really enjoys resorts, so I don't think she will be disappointed. The zero entry pool will be great for our DS.

This is a bonus trip and we are surprising DD5! We are going to pick her up from school on 10/26 and tell her she needs to go home and change clothes because we are flying to WDW for MNSSHP :cool1:

You will have a great time at the Poly! It is my favorite resort and the location simply cannot be beat.

And that is great about surprising your DD! My mom actually surprised me with a fall trip to the WL/Poly when I was in middle school and it is still one of my happiest memories! So exciting. :goodvibes

:cool1: I think you made the right choice. Have a great trip! Your DD is going to be so surprised!

Thanks everyone! The surprise is killing me! Part of the fun for us is trip planning so I sort if miss doing it with DD, but I know the look on her face will be priceless and so worth it.

We are doing a trip in Jan with extended family so DH and I agreed that this trip would be about MNSSHP, a few hours at Food and Wine and then rest of the time enjoying the Poly :)
