have a studio booked for late August at poly. Dw just mentioned possibly waitlisting VGF. I know it is late likely not o get it anyway but which would you prefer for 3 night adult only trip

Have stayed at both resorts in past and love them both

Thx

We will be staying for the 2nd time at the Grand Floridian in a 1 bedroom and I would highly recommend this property. The only thing that is a little bit of a let-down are the pools. I am not saying that they are not nice but I don't think they are the best at WDW. All depends on what you are after during your stay. Everything else there is pretty amazing.

You will enjoy either so maybe split the trip up and try both - then you can repeat at your favorite next time.

VGF, PVB is still having too many issues with construction, room issues, and CM training.

I would say it would depend on if you are wanting to eat at the restaurants at the GF.

If you have already stayed at GFV and haven't stayed at DVC PVB then check out the new digs, perhaps you will be able to compare what the poly was like before and after DVC.

now since I have never liked the GF - my vote is PVB.

It is a wonderful place to walk around.

Have only done regular resort for both not DvC. Love them both. Wasn't doing GF restaurants. Maybe mitzners though and definitely trader sams at poly. Wish we could stay longer and to both!! Lol

Also are the torches still lit at night at poly or has construction halted that?

when I was there the torches were lit - but not sure they do the ceremony any longer. It was not on list of activities

I love both resorts, but I would personally not base where I stay on where I want to eat. I usually eat meals and/or enjoy the lounges at both resorts, and I really enjoy the walk from one to the other, especially after dinner. As for rooms, I find the GF quieter, which is a plus, but while I adore the GF 1-bedroom and larger units, I don't really like the GF studios all that much. Studio vs studio, I prefer the Poly decor, space, and storage space.

That said, given you're talking about August 2015, I might prefer GF studios, simply due to ongoing construction and growing pains at the Poly, especially if you've booked a standard view (which at Poly could be parking lot or, by August, potentially looking over the quiet pool construction from Tokelau). So if Lake view, I'd stick with Poly, but for this August, I'd try for GF.
