We're thinking of going on a long weekend, just us, no kids, for our anniversary. Our anniversary is in Oct - but DH's vacation is the first full week of december so we're thinking of going then. We've never gone anywhere without the kids and I'm already feeling guilty and we haven't even done anything yet. I know that it's perfectly fine to go away without the kids, and we're only talking probably 3 nights, so the big question is...
Which resort??? We've never stayed at the Poly, but been there several times for charachter meals, we've never stayed at the GF either, and never been there at all. I'd really like this to be special, and I figure that as a family we can always go for a moderate or value, but I'd really like to do the deluxe just for us. I'll take any advise I can get!!

HI! How many years will you be celebrating? We are going for our 10th anniversary to the GF. I would definately choose the GF over the Poly. The Poly is nice but I can't wait for the GF! It just seems so much more romantic and beautiful. We enjoyed the poly very much with the kids but it wasn't a romance spot imho. btw, I know it's hard to go without the kids. We've only done two short trips by ourselves in 10 years! If you have a good babysitter, go and love every minute of it!

The POLY is my favorite resort at WDW. Has been for 30+ years to this day nothing compares for me.

With that being said..... .....I would choose the GF for this trip. We just celebrated our anniversary there in October without our 2 DD's and had a Grand time. We had 4 great evenings of wonderful dining and we enjoyed a few couples massages at the SPA. :earseek:

You can't go wrong with either...let us know what you decide!

We will be celebrating our 7th anniversary. I know it's not a major milestone or anything, I'm just looking for an excuse to go to WDW :goodvibes
As for the babysitters, my parents will be babysitting, so that's no problem at all. I'm so glad that there are others that go alone, without the kids and have a great relaxing time. There are so many times that when we went w/the kids they didn't let us do or see what we really wanted to do. I was leaning towards the GF, just because of the grandness and elegance, but the Poly is so tropical and beautiful in its own way. Oh well, what a dilemma!!

It depends on what your idea of relaxing is. For me I would do GF in heartbeat without kids. It feels very "adult" to me and I love the atmosphere of the piano and the Garden Room for high tea. If that sort of thing feels stuffy for you, then do the Poly. We just got back from the Poly and it was great. We were there with our two DDs (2 and 4). For me that is the difference -- I felt like I could enjoy everything at the Poly with my girls, whereas at the GF I would be pining for an adults only getaway.

You're going around Christmas time too, so you'll be able to enjoy all the decorations they put up. Infact, you should take the time to check out other resorts because they make them look aweeeeesome! :3dglasses

We stayed at both Poly and GF during December of last year, and they were both wonderful. We are fans of the Poly, but I have to give it to GF for the decorations and gorgeous gardens.

If I may suggest though, since its just you two, check out the Boardwalk Inn...There's a lot to do in that area and the decor (imo) is high up there with GF.

I vote for the GF. It's your anniversary -- go all out and do something completely different from what you've done before. You will love it and love the restaurants.
