Poly or Ft Wilderness cabins?

We’ve always wanted to try both so now is our chance.! We will have two elementary age kids along and usually go to the parks most days. My only real requirement is quiet nights for sleep, since I have issues if neighbors are noisy! For those who have done both, which do you prefer?

I've only done the Poly overwater cabins. Despite the closeness to the ferry dock and the potential for noise from the boats as they come and go we found it pretty quiet.

Having said that I'd suggest the WL cabins would be even quieter.

For access to parks, Poly is best. For quiet, Ft. W is best. If you really want to do Poly, consider a 1- or 2-bedroom villa in the tower. We only book 1- or 2-bedrooms now so our bedroom does not have a connecting door or a door facing the hallway.

We have only done the WL cabins and they were great!

We love both and would probably choose Fort Wilderness if we have a car and Polynesian if we don't.

The Poly rooms can be noisy depending on your neighbors sharing walls, and the hallway noise. The Ft. Wilderness cabins are set on a private lot with no shared walls and the next cabin is 20-25 feet away. There a reserved parking space for 1 vehicle at each cabin.

Please note that you will be walking everywhere at the Ft. Wilderness cabins if you don't have a vehicle. You walk to catch the internal bus for resort and switch to the Park buses at a common point. Yes you can rent a Golf-cart for $70 per 24 hr period and park it right at your cabin.

New cabins at Fort Wilderness.
I agree with what @Dave006 says. It's 2 totally different experiences. Fort Wilderness will be quieter, the Poly can be noisy and crowded because so many people visit. That said, the Poly is tied for my favorite resort along with the Wilderness Lodge. And POFQ for a moderate.

The cabins looks cool, but I wouldn't turn down an opportunity to go the Poly. And I'd probably want to have a resort day scheduled if doing Ft. Wildressness.

I'd say Poly...but that's because I am not a fan of camping and even the cabins are too "camping" for me.

Pretty different experiences in so many ways.

Neighbors will impact everything, like anywhere. I find Poly resort rooms relatively good with neighbor noise, but nowhere is going to be immune from really noisy folks.

Generally speaking FW Cabins will be the quieter experience overall, in my opinion. BUT just because there's physical distance between cabins and you're "in the woods" doesn't mean you're isolated from noise. The cabins are still close together and there is a pretty steady stream of vehicles, golf carts (some make more noise than others), and various WDW utility/housekeeping carts (mostly gas powered) that can create noise. Also people tend to hang out on their porches, cook out, etc. It's not unheard of for larger groups to get several cabins and "combine" forces - pop a tent, put up chairs, etc.

I will also add the cabins have what I consider a pretty annoying dehumidifier that can't be turned off - in the quiet of night the hum can be annoying for some. It didn't bother me in the bedroom but did bother me when sleeping on the pull down in the living room. YMMV here, some have reported not hearing anything, some have reported the same annoying hum.

Poly is a bustling resort but has remarkably quiet portions as well. Room location and neighbors are key, things you can't really control.

Poly is my favorite resort but I also adore FW. They're both gems. I would personally be making the decision on what type of WDW vacation/location I want over possible noise at either, IMHO.
