September is our 10 year wedding anniversary and I am planning a surprise trip for us with no kids.:cool1: I have AKL booked for a few nights, being our first deluxe we stayed in, and also booked Poly with a MK view. In the last few days I have seen pictures of the MK view rooms from CR. I love the view from the CR, but also love the Poly. HELP!!!!!!!!!!:confused3 Any comments or info would be nice. Thanks in advance.

Hmmmm...this is really tough! I have stayed MK view at both resorts and the views are very different, it is hard to compare which is "better."

The view from the CR is VERY close, and you can clearly see many of the details of the structures inside the MK. The castle view is kind of side-ways, but it is completely unobstructed. There is a large, asphalt parking lot in the foreground. That bothers some, but I rarely even noticed.

The view from the Poly is further away and therefore more panoramic. It is a little more straight-on view of the castle (depending on your long house), but sometimes the castle is mostly obstructed by the tall trees on the island in the middle of the lagoon. In the foreground you see beach, palms, lagoon. Personally, I think there's something a little more "romantic" about the Poly view, but the CR is definitely closer. I'm sorry I don't have any pics to post. Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either view.

Congratulations on your 10 years of marriage. What a wonderful thing to do for your spouse!

They are both great views. As the OP says the Poly is more straight on but the Contemporary is closer. We love them both! You can't go wrong with either. Happy anniversary in September!

Oh and one added benefit to the Poly is the walk from the Poly to the Grand Floridian. That is a nice romantic walk!

My vote is for a MK view at the Poly. As the PP said, it's a very romantic walking path to the GF. Also, at the beach next to the Tuvalu longhouse (very nice MK views there), there are hammocks and the place is nice, peaceful and romantic. :thumbsup2

the firework at the Cr are in your face.

but for the Polyn first you can see everyone of them and they are definitely quieter.

Thanks for all the help. I was wondering with these two options, which would be the best for a romantic supper on the balcony while the fire works go off. Sorry for so many questions, but my wife does so much for my family and I want this to be perfect.

We love the CR, but have you checked to see if an MK view is available. We tried to get one for Feb 09 and they are all already booked.

This may make your decision for you.

Okay, had to reply......From a Disney bride who got engaged, married and honeymooned at Disney, PLEASE try California Grill, atop the Contemporary Resort. This was the restaurant where we got engaged, had our wedding dinner, and have celebrated every anniversary since then. The ambiance is to die for. Call ahead and request a table with a view of the fireworks. I know, it's not a guarantee, but I think if you tell them of the special occasion, they can probably do their best. And even if you don't get one, you can get up from your table, and go to the private outside deck, and watch, then return to your table. What a great surprise for your wife!!!

I have stayed at both Resorts with the Magic Kingdom views and I liked it better at the Contemporary. While there was nothing wrong with the view from the Polynesian, it's much better being that closer and that is what you can get from the Contemporary. So basically it comes down to having just the view of Cinderella's Castle in distance from the Polynesian, to a full view of a lot more things in the Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary view.

Although I absolutely LOVE both resorts - I have to go with the POLY on this one because of the occasion you are celebrating. POLY is the most romantic of the resorts (IMO).

Enjoy and congrats!

You can't go wrong with either resort. Maybe checking some photos of the rooms and resort grounds may help you make your decision.

We were undecided as well and ended up booking a split stay - CR MK vie and Poly MK view!

The most romantic time ever was DH and I alone for our 6th anniv. @ the POLY- LVC. Wer received special gifts and being with out the kids was really the best part! LOL I'm sure whatever you decide; you'll have a magical trip!!!!

I'd go with the Poly....MK view. We just celebrated our 20th there in August and it was fabulous. If you get a 3rd floor you'll have the balcony. The Poly has a romantic feel to it. :)

With all the construction going on at the CR right now I would choose the Poly.

I stayed at The Poly and it does have a romantic feel but is dated...The elevators and hallways need a makeover...but in saying that..if you have a good location with a MK view it really is romantic. I love The CR and choose it for our stay this August...to me..there is nothing better then sitting on my balcony with my hubby with a glass of wine overlooking the MK. :lovestruc The view is so close and the fireworks are so vibrant! Plus you have The California Grill..which is a signature restaurant..Poly doesn't have one.

By September when the OP would be going to WDW all the major construction happening inside the Tower should be finished. The only thing still going on is the construction outside of the Kingdom Towers, however that has no effect on anyone staying in the Tower or South Garden Wing.
