So we have a room booked at the Poly, but it isnt subject to any discounts. We could switch over to the beach club and save a little over 2,000 with the new room discount. Is it worth it?? We have never been to Disney, and we havent had a vacation in 3 years - we are definitely in need of a splurge and want to do it "Right", but it does seem tempting to switch. We likely wont return to Disney for quite a few years after this trip. Our kids are young, so we plan to be at MK the most. Help!! Also, most of my ADRs based on the Poly location (not doing park hopper).

Depends on who you ask. My whole vacation (PoR for 7 nights, park tickets 6 days, and food) is 2,800 bucks for a family of 5. You're saying you could save almost that amount of money on just the hotel. I'd say switch hotels!!! I can't imagine the Poly being worth 2000+ dollars. I'm sure you'll get a variety of answers to this question. If it's in your budget stay where you want. I personally (being the penny pincher I am) want to vomit. :lmao:

If you're going to be spending most of your time at MK, logistically, the Poly would make more sense. And, it's a beautiful resort. I'm probably not a good one to ask, though. We just picked the Poly over Shades of Green which would've saved us around a grand, and as a bargain shopper, I'm trying not to think about that.

We spend equal time at MK and Epcot and thought about BC, but DH didn't want to stay somewhere new this trip. I'm sure some BC folks will be along with their thoughts. Good luck! :)

Poly is my family's favorite resort but the cost of the rooms there these days is ridiculous! We have stayed at BC and plan to stay there again next summer. BC is a beautiful resort with probably the best pool on property. We love being able to walk into World Showcase in Epcot and to DHS. We love the themeing of Poly and the monorail access to MK and Epcot but I wouldn't pay an extra $2,000 to have those benefits. I'd switch to BC.

Would you be willing to change your ADRs if you switch to the BC or are they set in stone?

Given that you plan to spend the bulk of your time at the MK with young kids, the Poly would definitely be more convenient (due to MK boat and monorail access). That being said, $2000 is a big price leap and the BC has a lot to offer! The BC has the best pool on property, for instance, and is extremely convenient to DHS and Epcot. The resort theme is also quite beautiful, IMO.

The BC and Poly are our absolute favorite resorts, so you truly cannot go wrong with either. I would do some BC research and, if it looks nearly as appealing as the Poly, make the switch. Given that this is a special trip for the family, though, I would not switch from the Poly if that is truly where your heart lies and you think that you will regret having not stayed there every day.

Also-- is there any particular reason why the new discount cannot be applied to the Poly? We were desperate to stay at the GF last December and found that, while the discounted rate did not show up for our particular dates, it did work when we extended the trip dates a couple of nights. We booked the extended dates and then just called to cancel those last couple of nights so that we still had the dates we needed with the discounted rate. May not have been fully in accordance with the rules (:rolleyes1), but it worked out for us and I have no regrets. I would play around with the dates a bit and keep checking the Poly! Did you try other room categories too?

I was also wondering why the poly is not discounted. I would do what a previous poster suggested and try booking more nights than you need. If you give us your dates some of might be able to help.

We have stayed at both, and love both resorts. We prefer the Poly for location, and it just feels like home to us. I would save the $2,000 in this case though.

So there are no rooms available in the Poly from 10/12 to the 20th, or the week after. So we missed out on free dining and now we also cant take advantage of the fall room discount. The discount cant be applied to our existing reservation either.
I guess I will look into the beach club. Since this is such a big vacation for us, I dont want to look back and wish we had spent the money on the Poly. We arent doing a lot of table service meals, so I liked the idea of spending more time at the resort and ordering from the QS options at Poly (incl. sushi, Kona cafe through the sushi bar too).

If you don't mind switching resorts, have you considered a Poly/BC split stay?

I just booked this for mid-December, applying the discounts that came out today.

We plan to spend 4 nights at Poly and then 4 nights at BC. We plan to do all of our MK days during the Poly leg and then switch over to BC during the first of two Epcot days. It'll be like two vacations in one and I'm super excited. :yay:

If you change your check out date to the 21st standard view rooms at the Poly are available. You can call back and drop that last night.

padawanns - wow - I didnt know that could be done. thx - you dont think I would loose the discount if I called back and cancelled the last night??

You will not lose the discount for canceling a night. I would call and secure that now!

So glad that it looks like the Poly may work out for you after all. :thumbsup2

OMG - you are all awesome, thank you so much for the idea. I just added the night and got the 30% off....now I will call back later and cancel the last night. I spoke with 3 different CMs this AM, and no one suggested this. :cool1:

Congratulations! You will love the Poly. :cheer2:

I hope the Poly works out for you guys pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

The Poly is our favorite WDW resort-- location to MK, TTC, theme, grounds, Wishes from the pool or beach, and room size

We liked our stay at YC and the pool is awesome, but if I were spending most of our time at MK, I would try-try-try to get a good discount at the Poly. We probably had bad luck at the YC for buses, we seemed to wait 20+min for a bus, multiple stops and then travel time to MK took 45-55min each way.

Glad I could help. We go frequently. I like staying at multiple resorts each trip, and I have been know to change my mind a time or two. I guess I have learned all the tricks. I had a CM tell me once if I tried to change my ressie from 5 nights to three it might not be available. Yeah right.:rolleyes:I called back an hour later and changed it to three nights without any issue. If you have any other questions come here and ask. People on these boards will be able to help you more than the Cm's. :)

Glad you could help him Padawans! :goodvibes I wish there was some better discount for us, ironically, it is because of the Canadian Free Dining that was offered last Aug and included dates which included Sept 28, that I chose my dates and got in 2 days earlier than the GP free dining which is offered Sept 30.... Unfortunately, the room only discount of 30% off starts Sept 30 too....so it doesn't work for my dates (Sept 28- Oct 4) I guess FD is the discount that works the best for us this trip.....it would have been nice to save a few more $$$ , but the dates and offers aren't working out for us :p Oh well, I'm PIF and happy to be lucky enough to try the POLY .....hoping we love it :)

Wow! Now I am impressed. I came here to way in on this discussion and it is not needed anymore. I would have never thought of adding one day would make such a difference. Congratulations on your Poly discount! That is such a huge savings. You will love it there and the convenience of the monorail. I hope you enjoy your stay.

If you haven't done so already, I would wait until at least tomorrow to drop the one day you added. It probably wouldn't make a difference, but just in case. :)

I would go with the Beach Club because you save ALOT of money but you are in the best resort area, have the best pool on property, able to walk annnd ride the boat to Epcot AND DHS!!!!!! Its a beautiful rsort also :)
