Poly or BC

I have reservations for the POLY in December. I am thinking of changing to the BC and called for prices. The price is about the same so that is not an issue. I am a little concerned about the bus service as transportation is so convenient from the POLY. How is the bus service? My DH drives for a living so I really do not want to rent a car.

Also, does anyone have a recommendation about rooms? I do not want to pay for a preferred view, so would it be better not to worry about room assignments? TIA for your info.

Oh boy, if I had a nickel for every time I've asked myself that question!

Obviously it really all comes down to two things:
1. Personal preference about which resort's theme you like better (BC for me)
2. Whether you'll be spending more time at the MK or Epcot (MK for me)

See why I've had so many problems?

Another consideration is that the daybed in the BC is smaller than twin, but the daybed in the Poly is a normal twin-sized bed. Not sure if you'll have enough people in the room for that to matter.

At the Poly, I've stayed in Rapa Nui (loved it!! - convenient to the TTC, and had its own parking lot - although you won't be renting a car, so it's not a benefit here) and Rarotonga (convenient to everything!! - right next to the Great Ceremonial House, quiet pool was right outside my sliding door). I don't remember room numbers, but both were garden view reservations. My stay at the BC was at the villas, so I can't comment on room preference in the rest of the hotel.

As for your question about bus service, I'm not sure because we always rent a car, but you really can't beat the Poly's monorail service to both the MK and Epcot.

Then again, the entrance into the WS from the BC and the boat to MGM from the BC is great too.

Ugh! I'm no help at all!!

This is how I end up cancelling and rebooking my reservations 10x or so.

You really can't go wrong with either, I love them both.

We stay at BC often and don't use the buses very much. You can walk right in to Epcot countries in about 5 minutes ~ it's awesome! Makes for some really great nights because it's so easy to have great dinners in the countries and watch Illuminations....then just an easy walk back to BC. You can also walk or boat to Hollywood Studios. The walk is longer, about 20 minutes depending on your pace. If you don't want to walk, then you can take a boat, which is a really nice ride. For MK, we normally plan a morning in Epcot and then just catch the monorail over to MK since we're already inside Epcot. If we want to start our morning out at MK, then we take a bus and it is fine. To get to AK, of course, we have to take a bus and that stops at Typhoon Lagoon first, I believe, or maybe it's Blizzard Beach. In any event, no matter which resort we stay at, it seems like we never get directly to AK and stop at a water park first.

So....I guess in answer to your question, we find BC convenient to get to the parks. Unless you are looking to spend most of your time at MK, then BC should work just fine. If you want to spend most of your time at MK, though, then I'd suggest staying with Poly.

HTH! Both BC and Poly are awesome resorts (our favorite 2 resorts in disney).
:)

See this is why I am having so much difficulty. We will be in both EPCOT and MK this time with only one day in DHS. We want to enjoy the Christmas events in EPCOT and MK so we will be spending at least tow days in each park and one evening in the MK for MVMCP. Our first day on DHS for Fantasmic and the Osborne lights. I do not mind the buses or the time it takes to get from one place to another, I'm on vacation, but my DD and DSIL compared CBR to the POLY the entire time were there in October. I do not want to change resorts and find that they are unhappy. My 6 YO DGD has some say in this and has asked to go to the BC because she liked the pictures of SAB.

I am no help even to myself :confused3

Hmmm, well I guess I might stick with Poly then because of your schedule. You have a lot planned at MK, so the monorail will make things very easy. One thing to consider is if it will be warm enough outside to enjoy SAB at BC. I'd hate to stay at BC and not be able to utilize SAB as I believe it's one of the strongest points to staying at BC. Tough call, but I would probably save BC for a trip when the temps are hotter and you plan to spend more time at DHS and Epcot so you could utilize the ease of getting to those 2 parks. Plus, in December I'll bet SAB closes extra early, maybe 8:00. I can't believe I'm recommending against BC (our all-around favorite resort), but given your park schedule and your trip dates, I have to go with Poly.

We liked both, but unless the rooms at the BC have been redone since Dec, there was no comparison as to which room was nicer. The Poly's rooms were much bigger and updated. The volcano pool is nothing to sneeze at either, and they have a magic fountain area where the water jumps out of the ground that was cool for the kids. It has a smaller water slide than SAB.

Be aware that you are not guaranteed a balcony/patio at either resort. From what we saw, it looked like it would be easier to get one at the Poly. If it is important to you, make sure that you request one! Some of the balconies at BC are standing room only as well.

BC actually worked better for us when we were in Dec. since we spent most nights at Epcot, and have 2 small girls DD6 & DD3. Put them on the bus at night and they were out cold! But then we had to get them back to the room...

If the pool will not be a daily activity, I think I would choose the Poly... but I did like both...:teacher:

I've stayed at both. They Poly is my favorite, but the BC is awesome too. We had the worst bus service at the BC, but it wouldn't prevent me from staying there again. Both resorts are great locations on Disney property. If I had to judge the two on bus transportation only, the Poly would win hands down.

As far as rooms, we always reserve garden view, but that is our preference. Your tastes may be differnt. Either way, you can't go wrong with either resort. Have a great time!

I have stayed at both, and like the Poly better. Which kind of supprised me, because I love Epcot so much, and being able to walk right into the World Showcase is great!

But the busses at the Beach Club were so slow! It was 40 minutes to get to the Magic Kingdom from the Beach Club. I don't know if we just had the slowest bus driver at Disney, or if he got lost, but it was crazy. If you are staying at the Poly, all you have to do to get to MK is hop on the monorail. Much easier! Plus you still use the monorail to get to Epcot too.

We are going to Disney World this week:banana: and when we were choosing resorts, my nephew ask that we NOT stay at the Beach Club, he said that it felt like we were too far from the other parks.

With you schedule, I would definately stay at the Poly.

I knew that I could come here for some honest advice. I'll share this with DD and let her decide, but I tend to agree that BC would not be as convenient.

I've never been fond of the Beach Club. It's nice looking, but seems kind of stuffy inside and on the grounds. Poly seems beautiful but laid back as well.

We've had ten previous trips. The first six were at the Polynesian. The kids were younger and preferred being close to the MK. As they got older, they wanted to be closer to Epcot/Studios. We switched to the Beach Club and we will be there again in another ten days.

We've stayed at the Polynesian once (July 2007) and are staying at the Beach Club for our next trip (July 2009). I can't recommend the Polynesian enough, especially for people who spend a lot of time in the Magic Kingdom and Epcot (via TTC).

The reason we have picked Beach Club for our next trip is transportation, believe it or not. Since we spend 2-4 days in Epcot each trip, it makes a lot of sense. Also, the boat transportation to Hollywood Studios will be great as I am trying to work in 2 days there as well. :)

We own at the BWV's so same location more or less as the BC. We have stayed several times in the BCV's. We love the location and SAB is awesome. With that being said, our love of the location has changed since adding our 2 dd's (3 and 1).

Our teens so miss the area when we stay elsewhere but since the arrival of our dd's we have paid cash 3 times for the Poly, WHY? Location. You honestly can not beat the location, if you request a building at the Poly near the TTC it is such a quick walk to the TTC for Epcot, the resort is not large, so from any building its maybe a 5-7 minute walk to the GCC to catch the monorail to the MK.

The volcano pool area is very cool my hard to please teen boys rate only SAB above the Volcano pool. Ohana is alot of fun for families. My advice would be Poly!!!!!

Having stayed at both BC and Poly, I would have to say the Poly hands down :goodvibes. Not to say the BC isn't nice by any means (it is a very nice resort), we just like the Poly much better. We like the MK area a little more than the Epcot area ;). It's a been a few years since we stayed at the BC (December 2003), but I do remember the bus transportation being horrible :scared1:. It seemed like the BC was always the last (or second to last) dropped off (busses were shared with Swan/Dolphin, YC, and Boardwalk) and when we were heading to a park, it seemed like the busses were already full with standing room only by the time it arrived at the BC for pickup. I guess that's one reason we love the Poly so much.....the monorail can't be beat (as far as Epcot and MK are concerned, anyway). BUT...if your main focus is on Epcot, you really can't beat the fact that you can walk there from the BC :thumbsup2. The BC is a very nice resort and we did enjoy our stay, but the transportation was not the greatest :sad2:. And after trying the Poly, that is now our #1 resort choice :yay:

I love the Epcot area, it is by far my favorite on property.

BC is the choice for me just because the International Gateway sells it.

And the pool rocks.

Good luck!:)

We love the Epcot resort area. Almost all of our trips have been at Epcot resorts. We are staying at the BC next week even though I originally booked the POLY MK view. The reason for the switch...DH badgered me and then got the boys on his side! :goodvibes I really don't mind. I love the BC and the YC. I just thought you know, do something different. I thought DD 6 would love seeing the castle with the MK view. The last time we stayed at the POLY was before she was born! Our previous trips since DD was born- BC, BWI, BC, BWV, BWV, and now BC. See a pattern here?

DH promised me next trip we'll do the POLY. :rolleyes1 We'll see if DH persistently annoys me to switch again!

Honestly at either resort you'd have a great trip. Both locations are fantastic.
