I will be using the dinning plan and want to attend the Luau. If I use my meal credtis I must be in tier 2 or 3. Is it worth paying out of pocket to get tier 1? Since this is my first time I have no frame of reference.:confused3

We have gone about 6 times to the luau but before they changed the names of the seating area...the front is of course the prime location. But the area they are talking about for tier 2 is not a bad area either.......we have been in both of these areas and were just as happy with tier 2 as we were with tier 1.....the sooner a person gets their reservation in the better the tier one seats are. It is the same with the HDDR. We enjoyed both of these dinner shows.

Thank you! That's just what I wanted to hear!! :)

Its definately not worth paying extra for. Honestly, its not worth 2 TS credits at all.

. . . But the area they are talking about for tier 2 is not a bad area either . . .

1) Not bad is a relative description.
2) We will not sit Cat-2 or Cat-3 at Luau or HDDR.
3) If the seats were not that bad, they wouldn't be cheaper than Cat-1.
. . . Cat-2 can mean straining your neck for a view
. . . Cat-3 can mean a pillar in your view

NOTE: People who pay cash almost always want Cat-1. WDW uses Cat-2 and Cat-3 for DDP because they know you have no choice if you want to use coupons. Also, using 2-TS coupons for Luau or HDDR is a very poor economic value of the DDP. If you pay for DDP, you lose $10-$18 per adult.

We had cat 2 at the Luau last summer..we were in the front row, off to the side. Great seats...great show although a bit cheesy ;) Food was great though..have fun!! :goodvibes

We were in cat 2 last February and it was fine. I didn't feel we had poor seats and my kids were able to see fine. When it was time for audience participation my dd had no trouble scampering down to the stage. I think were up on a riser to the stage left of centre. We couldn't have been farther back, but could have been a lot less central. It was really fine.

I second this. Not worth it at any price. Bad food, bad service, lame show. In my opinion of course. I would take some time to read a lot of the recent discussions and reviews of the Luau here and on AllEars.
