We’ve finally decided on Poly for our week in November now I need to decide on the tower or a longhouse! Anyone who has stayed in both have any recommendations? Can you choose your floor at the tower?
Might be a moot point if you intend to use points as Tower studios are pretty much all booked - only Longhouse is available for points at this time for Nov.
Well then that will make the decision easy for me
How do you know that? When I look at availability charts, it just says availability at Poly studios but doesn’t say where.

Are you booking a cash reservation with Disney directly, or are you a DVC owner or renting from a DVC owner? Cash inventory is completely separate from DVC points inventory, and that makes a big difference especially now because very little of the Tower is available for DVC points while a lot is available for cash.
The studios are listed differently on the cash booking site, depending on location - the ones in the longhouses are listed as Deluxe Studios and sleep up to 5 adults. The ones in the Tower are listed as Island Tower - Deluxe Studios and sleep only up to 4 adults or as Island Tower - Duo Studios and sleep only 2 adults.

As @CarolynFH mentioned the Tower Studios only sleep (4) while the Studios in the longhouses sleep (5). They also have different bathroom configurations with the Studios in the longhouses have an extra room with at shower & sink which makes getting ready a little simpler.
No you can't specify a confirmed floor at the Tower or even at the longhouses but you can request one at either location.
We are planning on renting points. So if someone wishes to rent with their points, but Disney saves some units for cash renters, then DVC owners can’t rent then?

Availability charts? Do you mean cash availability? That’s why I asked if you were using points (your own or planning on renting points). As CarolynFH said - it’s two whole different inventory charts. I was looking at DVC Points availability.

The DVC owner can only book what's available for points. They can't book what Disney offers for cash on the Disney website. Two different inventories. As pointed out above, the Tower studios that are in DVC points inventory are pretty much all booked for November already, so that might make your decision for you (assuming longhouse studios are available for points).

Correct. They are two entirely separate inventories. A room type may be available on the Disney web site for a cash booking, but that does not mean it will be available to DVC owners using points.
Prefer the longhouse side personally. More of the “OG” Poly vibe that draws me there in the first place - great landscaping, quiet grounds, decent sized rooms, torches, quick walk to every transportation option, etc. The Tower is fine, but it doesn’t “call me” - as Moana would say.
