Hi all you Poly experts.

We have reservations for the Poly for December 2005. Just took a quick look at Tikiman's website for the info on the renovations. We can only afford GV so we originally requested Tokelau as we really like that location and absolutely NEED a Non-Smoking room due to DD's very bad asthma and smoke allergies.

Situation is that now it looks as if a good deal of the new rooms will be done by then ( I hope so anyway - I realize that things may change but I know I'm not the only ones sitting here with my fingers crossed ).

I would absolutely LOVE to get an updated room so I am considering the following buildings: Samoa, Rapa Nuie, or Raratonga.

We have 2 kids ages 6 and 2 and would really like a quiet location because we will be coming back for naps during the day for our DD. We would like to be fairly close to the TTC and the bus stops. Not too worried about being close to the pools because in Dec I am not sure how much swimming we will be doing anyway. Also not concerned with being close to the GCH since we will be doing breakfast in the room and will probably only dine at Ohana and Kona once for each.

So if anyone can give me their takes on these three buildings I would really appreciate the input. I fully understand that this is only a request and that we may not get the building we choose but I would love to at least make a request.

I am so excited to be staying at the Poly to begin with - it will be our first trip to DW with the kids and our 1st time staying at a deluxe so I would love to make it all an extraordinary trip so I can convince DH that we must return every 2-3 years or so.

Thanks for all your suggestions in advance. ::MickeyMo

Although our children are all young adults now, when they were young we found all of the longhouses we stayed in very quiet once you were in the room. No problem with naps. We've stayed in Hawaii, Samoa and Rapa Nui using the current names.

Rapa Nui is great because it is small, has parking right outside and is the closest to the TTC. The rooms are a little larger and all rooms have balconies or lanais.

Samoa has a great central location within the resort but is not as close to the TTC as your other choices. One side faces the Volcano pool but we've always found it quiet anyway. Lots more foot traffic outside but we just shut the drapes at naptime when our children were young and it was very peaceful.

We've never stayed in Raratonga but it is the closest to the Polynesian bus stop and is also right next to the GCH. Even if you don't dine there more than twice, I hope you enjoy the ambiance of the GCH. And it is where you catch the monorail to the MK too of course.

Have a wonderful trip and happy planning!

We stayed in Tokelau because both the 2nd and 3rd floor rooms have balconies. It was terrific. Close to main pool, quiet pool (we were on the side facing away from the pool), fantastic view of lagoon at the end of the building, close to arcade (DS was 13) and also convenient to both TTC and GCH. The only time it was noisy was if I was out on the balcony and could hear the family on the balcony next to us. I know I would request Tokelau again.

If you want quiet, then Rappa Nui is for you. It's also got large rooms and is close enough to the quiet pool, while still far enough away.

Thank you - I am leaning towards requesting Rapa Nuie for location and 2nd floor balconies and larger rooms.

You won't be disappointed with any building you end up in ... but, since being near the GCH and the pools are not your priority, I would choose either Tahiti, Tokelau, or Rapa Nui. Larger rooms, 2nd floor balconies, close to both TTC and GCH and ferry to MK - quieter area in general as well.

Samoa was great but could be a little noisy if you are on the volcano pool side as we were. Our kids are "too old for naps" so that wasn't an issue for us. It's a lovely resort.

Our favorite is samoa, if you choose that bldg. you would probably want the quiet pool side, rapa nui I believe has alot of the handicapped rooms and my 2nd choice would be rarotonga because its closer to the bus stop. If you are planning on using bus transportation alot then I would go with rarotonga, if you are using the monorail to the mk alot then samoa is close to the gch and captain cooks for snacks etc. If you are using the monorail for alot of epcot time then rapa nui would be your chose. The resort really isint that far too spread out for walking. We did walk to the ttc from our samoa room in april, only once I have alot of health problems and the walk was too much for me, but I am sure you could handle it. You will love the Polynesian.
