Could anybody tell me how busy the resorts get in August? We have always been first 2 weeks in November - how do crowds compare.

Also what is the weather like last 2 weeks of August?

Crazy hot and humid!!!! But as long as you drink tons of water and take breaks in the AC (All indoor rides are AC as well as the shops), you'll be fine.

Parks are not empty, but the crowds are very doable. Unfortunaely (or fortunately, depending how you look at it!) they often have the free dining program, so the restaurants are booked solid - they are more crowded than the parks.

We've been twice and had to cancel our third trip this summer, but the last week of August is a fine time to go. We are planning our trip for this coming August now.

Thank you. I just thought going then would mean we wouldn't have to take my daughter out of school. I booked our ADR's 180 days out for this trip so will have to do the same then. How do you get in on free dining???

Hey SweetPea, you just got back and you're planning your next trip already!!! I love it! We always go in February or April (we have school vacation weeks then), but I understand you're coming from a much greater distance and also have the time change to contend with. I am a total wimp with the heat. We went once in June and it totally wore us out. Someone else can talk about free dining...it's a promotion Disney runs during part of August and September, to get people to book trips during the slower months. However, it's also hurricane season then.

I have been lucky enough to get free dining in August for the past 2 years. The last 2 years they have announced free dining for the public at the end of March. The booking for this plan has started at the beginning of April. You have to book your room at rack rate and include at least a one day park ticket with your ressie. If it is announced you can call and have it added to your package...you just can't have any other discounts. It has been hot, but we deal with it. Lots of water and stops at all the air conditioned attractions. ADR's are a must or you may not get in to the restaurants you want. I'm hoping they have it again this year...I'll be watching for it!!
