Poly Hot Tub?

that resort does everything on the cheap, and that is why there is no hot tub there.
No, I'd say that it was because they had a limited amount of space between the marina, Somoa and the beach. They made a very cool volcano slide and waterfall, and incorporated jets and heated water in one end of the pool. They also put a zero depth entry at the beach side. They did quite a bit with that amount of space. Cheap? Nope, don't think that played in it anywhere.

If I died and went to heaven, and it was the Polynesian, I would definently want a refund.

You have been posting bad comments about the POLY for months. What happened on your trip?

Here are a few tidbits about my latest experince at Disney's Bamboo Holiday Inn:

1) Right off the bat I must have had a new CM at check in, well I would like to think it was a brand new CM. The reason being is that she had no idea what she was doing what so ever. She did not know what a longhouse was at the Polynesian, I had to tell her that Epcot was a part of Disney, and she charged me for 4 UPH's when I told her we did not need passes. Oh yes and she gave us a smoking room when I requested a non smoking room.

2) The bell hop who brought our luggage to our room, actually counted the tip that we rolled up for him infront of us and said " that's it". Now I did not give him a huge tip but we did give him a dollar a bag so that was about $10 dollars.I would think that the guy has gotten smaller tips b4, but by the way he reacted to our tip it must have been the smalliest.

3) We where there during hurricane Jeanne and the way they handled guest relations during the ordeal would have been better at the Red Roof Inn on the I92. You see I was just staying at the Poly for the weekend and then moving over to the BWV on Sunday. Well of course the hurricane hit on Sunday morning and Disney shut every thing down. So I had to stay in extra night at the Poly, I called the front desk about my situation because I was worried about my DVC points for the Sunday night, and they told me that I will have to forfit my DVC points for that night and pay them $300 plus for there room that night. There was no way I was going to let them have there way with me, so I called the BWV and they said they will give me my points back. So at least I got my points back for that night. But the Polynesian still charged me over $300 dollars for that night during the huricanne and for what? I would gladly pay big bucks per night for a resort with all the amnities but to just stay in your room during a hurricane is just a straight rip off. They would not give any one a break on the rooms for the night which is just plain ignorant. All the other resorts where giving refunds of some sorts at the WDW resort, heck the WL was giving folks there room's for $79 dollars for the hurricane night. There top prority during the hurricane at the Polynesian was to make as much money off the guests as possible and who cares about doing anything else for the guests welfare. They even where selling these packages of food with sandwichs and cookies and stuff for $6.00 when all the other resorts where giving them away for free. The whole place left a bitter taste in my mouth. One last note when we where leaving the resort and the bell hop was picking up our luggage we where just trying to make a general discussion with him and we asked how his house and family where doing after the huricanne etc. I then asked him if he had to spend the whole time during the huricanne at the Poly and his reply was " No, and thank god I did not have to spend all that time at this hell hole." This resort it seems has very poorly trained CM's and cost cutting is every where around this place. So hence the new name of Disney's Bamboo Holiday Inn on the monorail.

Wow......I just wanted to know about a hot tub.

I do agree with Kelly Nelly that charging over $300 a night when they were suppose to transfer to another Disney hotel anyway is wrong.

I do not think we will be staying at the Poly.

Please don't let Kelly Nelly's experience sour you on the Polynesian. You will find 100 people who love the Poly to one that doesn't. Sounds like the hurricane had everyone in a bad mood. I am sure that colored quite a bit, and having already been through 2 hurricanes by that time, many CM's were working through for the ones who couldn't get to work, plus worrying about guests being safe, as well as the safety of the families that were left at home.

I am sorry that Kelly Nelly doesn't like the Poly, but she really shouldn't try to dissuade others from staying there.

Every resort at Disney has at one time had many guests not satisfied. They have also had thousands of guests that were completely and totally satisfied with the same resort.

If one person's experience is enough to make you not want to stay at the Polynesian, then I would agree stay elsewhere. You will not be satisfied.

It is the hot tub issue for us and not one person's experience.

Did we miss the hot tub... no, because there is just something about a bunch of people all steaming in each others'
juices....eeeeewwwww!

The less folks that stay at the Poly, the better chance I get my room requests!

There two quotes sum it up for me! I'm assuming that both the Poly. and Poly. concierge will be full while we are there (Easter Break).

We're very happy with our decision. Best of luck!

Let's try that again . . .

Yup! :flower1:

I agree about public hot tubs. There is no way I'm sitting in one with a bunch of peeing kids and sweaty strangers. At the CBR the hot tub was so crowded with unruly kids I felt sorry for anyone trying to get in it relax. Especially with all the jumping going on!

Honestly, I am grossed out by very few things. However, I agree with the public hot tub thing. I visualize the contents of the tub being about 80% water, 10% sweat, 5% pee and 5% sunscreen, all heated to a rolling boil, waiting for your enjoyment. Perhaps there's a drop or two of Chlorine that still remains trying to kill off that other 20% non-water stuff.

I went into the one at AKL, alone, very shortly after the opening of the resort. I figured it hadn't had a chance to get nasty yet. But, when I see the hot tubs, loaded to capacity in the middle of a hot day, that stick in the eye starts looking really good.

They even where selling these packages of food with sandwichs and cookies and stuff for $6.00 when all the other resorts where giving them away for free.

That isn't true. I was at CSR during Hurricane Charley and they were charging for the hurricane buffet and box lunches they set up for guests.

It is amazing how selective memories can be, isn't it?

Yep we were at the AKL during Jeanne and my In-laws got box lunches and they were charged back to the room.

Perhaps the person who told the guest who said they were charged when other resorts weren't charging for the meals didn't look at their room bill very closely.

When the Polynesian pool was redone there was discussion among the management to add a hot tub. As many have said the area around the pool that would have been available was very limited, therefore the hot tub would have been very small.

They decided to add the hot jets in the pool to make an area that could be enjoyed by more people.

As someone else stated the gross factor of public hot tubs is just more than I can tolerate.
