If I book the least expensive garden view room at the Poly, what building am I likely to get? :)

There is no telling really. YOu can request a longhouse, we always do, and have had our request every time but once when the longhouse was under rehab.

We love Fiji. Its garden view but both sides have a nice view of the marina and luau cove, its also close to the GCH and pool. Its our favorite and very quiet too.

I have booked Garden View at the Poly 3 different times. The first time we were put in Tahiti and the most recent 2 times we were in Raratonga. We loved BOTH buildings. I never made any special requests. Raratonga is purely GV rooms so it is certainly a likely location. Actually - just forgot another stay I had, which was in Rapa Nui. I was splitting that Disney trip b/w several WDW resorts and wanted to spend a couple of nights there in one of the newly redecorated rooms and I believe Rapa Nui was the first to be completed so I requested it. That bldg. would be all GV as well.
Raratonga is great b/c of its proximity to the Great Ceremonial House (main lobby). Also the laundry facilities and Neverland Club were just a very short walk from my 2d floor room. We had a great view of the monorail too!
I really think you'll be happy anywhere at the Polynesian. It's fabulous! I'm going back this summer :cloud9:
Good luck!

as far as I am concerned, there is no bad building to stay at, at the Poly. They are all great and the walks to even the furthest from the Great Ceremonial House are not long, and I find them VERY peaceful and enjoyable.

Someone correct me if I'm confused, but to the best of my knowledge there isn't a "least expensive" garden view. There's garden view, lagoon, and MK view categories, and price for each room in the category is the same unless you consider concierge.

If you aren't staying concierge, you won't be in the Hawaii building. Otherwise with a garden view room you could be in any other longhouse. You may make a request, but there's really no way to know before you get there.

You are correct :)

We honestly have never gotten a bad view at the Poly. And we don't normally request anything.

In Aug, we asked for and got Tokelau, garden view, at the Poly. We were on the top floor (another request), had a balcony, and loved it. Not far to anywhere (ever been there ?). And the walk to the Trans. center was maybe 5 or 6 minutes. Good luck. Oh, check Tikkimans site for a great map. Have fun !! :thumbsup2

We have stayed at the Poly 3 years in a row, all Garden View. The first year we were Rapa Nui and the last two years Tokelau. I never have requested any specific locations, however I do like getting a room on the first floor, so the kids can play out on the grass. Any location in the Poly is great, and I wish I were there today.:yay:

We booked a garden view Oct 07 and were placed in the Fiji building with a marina and water view, it was awesome! Super close to the main building

We are going again for a long weekend in August, the weekend before the free dining starts so hopefully the crowds wont be too bad yet. We booked the Poly at the 40% off code so we are paying $200 a night including tax. I called for the free dining and the CM said if I was to change my dates I would have to pick the discount I wanted to use, either the free dining or the 40% off code, you cannot have both

Last stay we were garden view in Rapa Nui - I was not happy when they told me at the desk - but I decided to just make the best of it.

Once we were settled into the room I actually LOVED it! It has been remodeled so it has the double sinks in the bathroom. It is as far as you can get from the GCH - but therefore more peaceful. The walk to GCH was only a couple of minutes (the shortest walking we did at the World :lmao: ).

We liked being so close to the TTC - we could just walk over and catch the monorail to EPCOT.

I agree with everyone else - there is no bad place to stay at the Poly! :goodvibes

Never say never to the Hawaii building! We got a pixie dusting last year. We booked a Garden View room with a 30% off Disney Visa Discount and I guess someone over there decided to spoil me for my birthday, because we were upgraded to a Garden View CL room! I was happily stunned.
