Poly DVC

ok I'm missing something, where are these plunge pools? Are there pictures?

Of the pictures I've seen the plunge pools look like they are suspended from the bottom of the decks on the lake side. They look to be mostly steps to me but I guess it fits the description of a plunge pool.

DVD just made the final declaration for VGF so it is now 100% declared for the DVC membership (see article). As VGF gets closer to its "sold out" point, the sooner DVD will need to roll out the Poly.

Will the first floor model villa now be available for booking? I ask because it is one of only five studios to have a direct view of the Electric Water Pageant and Magic Kingdom fireworks.

Not till DVD sells the resort out. They keep the model as their 2%.

I agree with disneynutz. DVD can always use its own points to keep VGF villa #1514/#1516 open as a model. And as long as VGF is being actively marketed, DVD will probably keep a villa available as a model.

By the way, the two-bedroom villa on the first floor being used by DVD as a model has always been part of the DVC inventory. It was included in the initial declaration of Units that was made before sales began in May 2013.

Now I know what the plunge pools are for. If your out there at night you need to plunge in the pool to get the bugs off before you enter your bungalow.:rotfl2:

I wonder if the plunge pool will actually keep families with small kids away...We stayed at a house in St. John when my dd was 2.5. They actually didn't want to rent to us because we had a toddler, but it was a large group and they said ok.

I don't think Disney won't want to rent to families, I am just saying it does pose a whole new risk that people who maybe don't have a pool at their house may not think of until they have checked in and realize all their toddler wants to do is run towards the pool :)

I must say, that is non-stop work making sure your toddler doesn't fall in the pool!! When you take the kids to the pool, that is different, you are there, you are on guard non-stop, etc. But to not be able to relax in the room because of the pool outside...I think I would wait until the kids were older to try it out (If my "babies" weren't older now). Just a thought....

The whole dang bungalow is hovering over a giant lake. I'm thinking that if parents are renting a bungalow, they know there are risks and will have to be watching their young ones!

I can't imagine Disney will do anything differently for parents of young children...

I wonder how they are going to keep the snakes and other water living things away from the bungalows?

Snakes!!! Yikes!! I'm out :)

My DVC source is still telling me that the Poly will only have connected studios and the 2 bedroom bungalows. If this is true it will really change things for the members who want a full kitchen.

The 20 bungalows are all 2 bedroom units and all the rooms in Pago Pago, Moorea and Tokelau are all connecting studios. In this phase where will be no one bedrooms.

Steve, is this a hint that they are considering additional buildings in a future phase at the Poly?

Any idea on how they will filter and sanitize the plunge pools?

Good question. I would only be guessing if I gave an answer. Maybe the same way the filter and sanitize the hot tubs but on a smaller scale.

We've stayed at the Fairmont Kea Lani in the villas and they each have a plunge pool. A pool guy came by every morning, tested the water, added chemical and cleaned it with a net. Probably took about 5 mins total. We were able to use it right after he was done and it never smelled of chlorine nor did it ever look cloudy or dirty in the 9 nights we stayed and it was used regularly. The location was steps away from the ocean and also never saw any critters except a few bull frogs on the lawn. Each villa at Kea Lani has a gate preventing access to pool area unless you are staying in that particular unit but no cover for the plunge pool so if you had little ones it was your own responsibility to keep track of them. The kids bedroom actually opens right out to the pool with adults/nicer and more private bedroom located upstairs. I saw plenty of families with little ones staying in these units. They were so relaxing that I found it hard to leave for the beach.

I wonder what they will cost to maintain, another Poly dues item.
