Anyone know or have any rumors regarding a Poly DVC. It seems like a no brainer!

We would like!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:

So much that I could add-on instantly..... :dance3:

I think until the economy improves... I think all plans are on hold for now... They are offering insentives now to get people to come and join and they've never had to do that before... I think that's just the way things are for now...

They have frequently offered incentives, some better than those being offered now.

No rumors for Poly. There has been a rumor for GF. Poly would almost certainly have to be a hotel conversion like the AKL portion of the AKV. GF could be either or both. The good thing about doing this at the Poly would be they're larger rooms. It wouldn't surprise me in a few years to happen, but it is just as likely not to. And if it does, you can expect 5-7 years minimum.

And since Poly was built using those Prefab units, it might not be an easy conversion! Studios only anyone?

The bigger unknown is how does it sell? If Disney is keeping the Poly booked then they aren't likely to give up space to DVC. CR had problems keeping those wings booked making it easier.

If the Poly doesn't have trouble staying booked, they won't be giving up rooms for a DVC conversion.

AKL was running a 30% vacancy rate and DVC was a way to increase revenue. I wonder if they will turn Jambo back over to AKL after Kidani opens.

They can't. They sold units in Jambo. They would have to get all of who bought there to agree to a quit claim to take a replacement unit at Kidani. And someone would not agree just because so.....

This is not possible, since members legally own a real estate interest in those AKL convertered rooms.

I should know better... guess I'm getting old, we own at Jambo.

If it ever comes to pass, we would buy. We are staying at Poly on points this next visit.

I would buy with no hesitation!!! I want a Poly DVC!!!

While I know that traditionally the Poly has had some of the highest (if not the highest) return guests, that doesn't mean it's booked 100% of the time all year around. Thus losing 100 units they could book part of the year might be worth picking up 100 units (or the DVC equivilant) all year long. Plus who's to say those other 100 rooms won't be booked elsewhere that might be having some units go empty. It could also allow them to raise the room rates (and/or less discounts) due to the increased competition. I'm not sure how the prefab would work with conversions but I doubt it'd be an issue. Besides, aren't at least two of the buildings that were added later not prefab? I'm not saying it'll happen or it won't, only that if Disney wants it to happen I'm sure they'll find a way to make it work.

When they built the expansion, it was a more traditional nature. Also, the recent rehabs have been ding away with much of the "modular" nature. As an example, concrete floors in the first floor rooms in the initial portion of the resort.

You guys seem to miss the fact that moving a road over a few feet, which would be very easy, creates a huge amount of space for the building of new units. That's how it will happen.

The DVC expansion should take place in the current parking lot.

From an evironmental, zoning, and/or legal standpoint is there anything prohibitting Disney from using landfill to create more land space for DVC at Poly? It's worked for airports, universities and other building projects.
