Just back from an seven night stay @ poly. I loved the resort. I felt like I got 2 for 1 as far as vacations. I ran into a few rude cast members. I was shocked. Never have I experienced this from disney. has any one else had this problem?

I don't think I've ever run into a downright rude CM at Disney. I have run into a few who seemed pretty clueless lately.

Never encountered a rude CM at Disney. I think it may be a matter of perception/expectation.

I ran into quite a few cm that didn't seem to know much of anything about the parks or the rides in the parks. I was surprised by that but figured that maybe because the whole disney area is so large that it was hard to keep the info stright. Now cm's working at the mk and not knowing a lot about it was different than dl, ca. There the cm's seem to know a ton of info and are happy to share it.

I had a problem with one of the lifegaurds. She was awful. When I tried to explain that this was my first trip to DW and that I had never stayed @ Poly before and I was sorry for having to ask where the life vests where.....I got yeah, yeah, and rolling of the eyes.

In the concierge lounge the chef was great but some of the others that work there seemed to give a lot of looks like - what the hell are you doing here. I thought that maybe it was just me so I didn't say anything. I ended up over hearing two other familys mentioning the same thing.

I loved the Poly resort. It's just beautiful. The pool and beach. Watching fireworlks. The weather. I was just taken back with all of the rude, non careing people we ran into. I had not experienced anything like that from disney before. I just tried ignored all the weirdness that we ran into. But it does make a difference. I had not realized what a huge role the cast members play in the "charm" of disney.

I think that we may return because the resorts and weather are 100% better than DL I guess the trick is not to expect so much from disney.

I stay at the Poly for almost 30 days a year and have yet to run into a rude CM there. I haven't had a rude CM anywhere on Disney property! We were just at the Poly 3 weeks ago for 2 weeks and had a wonderful trip as usual. We are going back again in 120 days and can't wait!

I love the Poly myself. I have to admit though, after reading your post, the Poly is the ONLY place I have encountered rude cast members. Coincidence?

I was there from May 9 - 15 and didn't encounter any rude CM. I stayed at Concierge and what I found was that they bend over backwards to please! One day they ran out of Frangelico and the apologized that they didn't have another bottle handy.

All the CMs throughout the resort were friendly and helpful and with the exception of two that I remember all said Aloha EVERYTIME they saw us.

Nope- never had a problem with cast members. They are always so nice! Wow, thats suprising.

bhillier, I'm glad that you had such a nice trip and have discovered the magic of the Polynesian despite a handful of not so special CMs.

We've stayed at the Polynesian since 1983 and have run into just a couple of unhelpful CMs compared to the hundreds over the years who have been great. The great CMs there, many of whom have been there for years, is one more reason we keep returning. But there is no excuse for how you were treated.

Kudos to you for for seeing beyond those unpleasant encounters and finding the beauty of the resort.

We got back two weeks ago and I must agree I thought that the CMs weren't as nice as they were two years ago. That said, we ate dinner two nights at the Poly and found everyone there to be very friendly. We got an aloha from everyone there. it was at the parks and the CR that we thought the CMs weren't as friendly. We also stayed at the YC this trip and the staff there was great. Jay

Well, it sounds like most have had great disney experiences. In the past that is also what I experienced. I would not have believed it if a person were to tell me that they had a rude CM. I would have thought it was probably they themselves that were starting the problems with a funky attitude. It's good to hear that the majority of people have a wonderful time. I'll be looking forward to my next trip. Thanks to all for the shareing your experiences.
