Poly Discount question

I'm hoping someone out there can answer this... We are lucky enough to have a friend that works at DW that has gotten us a 40% CM discount at the Poly, there is NO way we could've stayed at the Poly without it.

I'm a CRAZY light sleeper, one of those that will wake up over the smallest noise and then not be able to fall back asleep, and I mean I will be up until everyone else is awake. (Hate it).

My question is: I feel guilty calling and asking for a top level room with such a deep discount. SHould I bother or will they just laugh at me? Has anyone else been on a deep discount at the Poly and made requests and got them?

We stay at the Poly on an airline discount every year and I have made special requests before with no problem. I asked to be put in a certain longhouse and it was granted. As far as your sleeping, have you tried earplugs? I wear the really soft ones from the airlines and I don't hear anything. If I were you, I would ask to be away from the pool area. Facing the other way. The longhouse that is furthest away from the great ceremonial house may be your best bet. More walking for you, but you'll be rested!

The cast member has to make the reservation through a special cast only line. If you call, they will ask for specific cast member information that you probably won't know, and they ask different questions every time. Just a heads up from what I've learned the hard way this past week. I love the 40-50% off discount though- got the AKL for only 165!

Good to know! Thank you! As far as earplugs, I'm always so worried my "dead to the world" husband will not wake up if there is some kind of emergency.... good idea though, will try it out.

We always travel with our alarm clock that has a noise machine built in. We turn it on white noise when we go to bed and we don't hear our neighbors at all, no doors slamming, toliets flushing, etc. It's not so loud that we wouldn't be alerted to an emergency.

I'm a really light sleeper as well and when we stayed at the poly, we requested and got the Tahiti building. It was really quiet and convenient to the TTC and had a great view of the Magic Kingdom.

I wouldn't hesitate to ask for a certain building.
