Hello, we had our first disney trip in april of 2005, we just booked our second for april of 2006. We LOVED the POLY! We are going concierge this time in a lagoon view room. I noticed that the price is the same for a 1 bedroom suite. If it is available, would I want this? The view of the fireworks is important to us w/ an 8 and 6 year old, which in the Hawaii lagoon view I thinkwe will have a great view. Just curious what the advantage of the suite is. Thanks!

I am not sure about the advantages of the suite over a room in the Hawaii building (maybe a second bathroom and a separate sitting area??), but if you are interested, you can see the view we had a few weeks ago while staying at the Polynesian, LVC. Especially since you said the view was important to you, as it was to me, and probably to most people who choose Lagoon view :teeth:

The link is below, look for the link that's for the Polynesian review. I hope you enjoy! :)

P.S. I just got this info from Disney World's web site, it doesn't have much info about the suites, maybe you can call for more info, but here goes:
Suites: maximum 5-9 Guests
Stay in a one bedroom with separate sitting area and wet bar (sleeps 5); two bedroom Princess with 2 baths, separate sitting area and fridge (sleeps 9); or King Kamehameha with 2 stories, 2 bedrooms, 3 1/2 baths and kitchen (sleeps 6).

P.P.S. One thing I do know is that the Tonga building sits further back from the lagoon than the Hawaii building does. I know that the suites have views of the castle, but not sure how much of the lagoon you would see (the Grand Floridian, Contemporary, etc, or if that would even be a factor for you). The Tonga building is VERY close to the Great Ceremonial House though. :) Personally, if the view is a big thing for you, and you don't have a part of 5, I'd go with a lagoon concierge room. :)

Thank you soooo much for replying, I was thinking the view w/ the suite would not be the same also. I will check out the pictures now. Thank you!!!

The suite you are referring to that is the same price as an LVC room is the honeymoon suite ... there is only one of its kind, and it is actually slightly smaller than the concierge rooms. It has one bed and has been rehabed recently with the new room designs. All other suites begin at $700/night.

In my opinion, LVC is more conveniently located ... if you stay in Tonga you will have to walk to the Hawaii concierge lounge - which is a slight drawback. The one bedroom Princess suite is the next rate tier which is $700/night and is the size of two standard rooms.

Good luck.

SeaSpray, love your pics. We will be at the Poly, LVC, this Thurs and those pics made me even more excited to be going back again. The Poly is the only place we have stayed while at WDW. Love it there. The views are the greatest.

I've been in the King Kamehameha Suite, and the view of the fireworks would be somewhat obstructed.

Can I hijack this thread for one ?. (Think it may be get lost in the concierge info thread.) I read before that the Poly lounge has uncrustable sandwiches (those round packaged PB&J"s). Anyone been there recently happen to notice if they do?

My DS is autistic and has gotten into a routine of eating one every mid-morning. I know those that don't live with autism, will think he should do alright without such a silly thing. All autistic kids are different, but if my son is off routine (going on vacation is a trial in itself) he will self-injure, meltdown, etc. Just thought the uncrustable daily snack would be one familiar thing I can schedule for him. Just had to explain why I am asking such a dumb question.

They had them at noon time and evenings.

Thank you :cheer2: I'm sure I can grab one the day before and refrigerate at he can have it precisely at 10:30. I have a bizarre life. Anyway, thanks for the quick reply

You could grab several to keep in your refrigerator as they had a basket of them or just ask any of the workers. They are so willing to accomodate.

That all said, it's also quite possible that someone will grab the entire box before you get a chance to take one. It's happened before, it will happen again. I'd not risk it and just bring a box from home to make sure you've got them when needed.

Anne

I can't believe that you saw someone take a whole box. For God's sake, they're just frozen PB&J's. What in the world are people thinking of? Threehearts

Actually I wasn't the one who saw someone take the whole box. Can't recall who did, maybe Tikiman? I did see someone take two HUGE plates of cookies and left none for anyone else at the AKL, and saw a guy take all but one of the Uncrustables at the Polynesian. Both took them right back to their rooms, the cookie lady and her daughter were right in front of us, and were talking about how it was great that they could take the food back to their room for their friends who werent' staying concierge, or something like that. It was a few eayrs back now, and I can't remember the exact words, but you get the idea. :sad2:

We're going on a cruise soon, and have a suite so can go to the concierge lounge. One of the other parties going on the same cruise asked if we could take them into the lounge with us everymorning so they could get "free" expresso. I nicely told them that I wasn't comfortable abusing the lounge like that. It really wasn't such a hard thing to do...

Anne

Anne,

I did not see anyone take a box but I do remember a lady taking the tray from the room and putting half of what was out on the serving plate back to the room for her kids. I believe that last time the staff had opened the packages and placed them out in the lounge so that people would not just take them and stash them in the room. This is why the water is no longer offered in the small plastic bottles. People were stashing those in the rooms and not even using them.

So Anne, what is wrong with the view from the King suite? I have a great shot from the bedroom where there is nothing blocking the view. Good for you Anne not taking the others into the lounge. When this was happening a lot over in Tahiti (when it moved for the rehab) they were considering shutting down the offerings because of the abuse.

Aloha

Hmmm...I want to recall something was blocking the view. I could be wrong, I didn't stay there, I was just visiting a friend who was. Maybe it was the way the shutters/blinds were on the window? And I'll be honest, I didn't look out the bedroom windows, just teh living room.

Sorry if I gave bad info.

Anne

No need to be sorry Anne. I was just curious where the view was blocked. It looked good from both the patio and the balconies when I was there.

Its off topic but please, if you don't mind my asking, what cruise line? Do Cat 1, 2 and 3 on DCL have access to a concierge lounge?

Thanks!

When we were there in June, the concierge was--once again--serving the Uncrustables IN the wrapper and whole. The year before, they were unwrapped, cut in half, and served on an open platter. I'm guessing that all those little hands over open food was found to be a not so nice practice. ;)

Ok, I can't believe there is THIS much to say about Uncrustables! LOL

But anyway....

When we were there a few weeks ago, I saw them open and cut in half arranged on a platter, and also whole and still sealed in the bags. I can't remember what time of day I saw them cut, and what time of day they were whole. Also, this just could've been due to who put them out on each particular day.

I'm happy to say that we never saw people behaving rudely or taking a lot of food at either the Wilderness Lodge concierge or the Polynesian concierge. :) In fact, I never saw lines or crowds at either place. (Our stays at both resorts were almost perfect, including that view from our room at the Polynesian; I am beginning to think I dreamt the whole trip). :cloud9: LOL

In June I noticed them unwrapped and on platters at lunch time. In the evenings they were in their wrappers.

Funny discussion.
