We are staying at Poly conceirge in August for 4 nights. We just received the Personal Vacation Itinerary in the mail today. We have reserved GV. Under the section for "special room requests" what type of things are they looking for? So far I've put non-smoking, first floor. Should I note anything about LV? Of course we would love a complimentary upgrade to LV ...is it proper to put that as a request?

You can ask for whatever you want--whether or not your request will be granted is based upon availability and the mood of the person doing check-in or assigning rooms.

If you'd like to try, I don't think I'd be so bold as to ask for a lagoon view--better to "play dumb" and simply ask for a castle view so you might watch the fireworks. Who knows, it might work for you--it's been known to happen. ;) It doesn't hurt to ask and all they can do is say no--which you won't know until you arrive and in your room.

We've been lucky on a couple of occasions--make it your first request though--and be willing to take the 3rd floor smoking optional if it's an option for you and they offer lagoon view.

Frankly, having stayed there so often--the LV isn't worth the added cost to us--we don't spend enough time in our room at night and we're up early in the morning. That said, when our children were little--it was nice to have the LV since they couldn't stay awake long enough to see the fireworks and we were on the patio or balcony as they were sleeping. It seems like yesterday. . .now they outlast us! Come to think of it, maybe they would like LV so they could sit on the balcony/patio while we sleep! :D Nah, that's what the concierge lounge and beach are for!

Hi Ladygator:

We stayed gv first floor about 5 weeks ago and loved it. We found that at night it was nice to go and grab a snack in the lounge and bring it outside and lay on a lounge on the beach and watch the water parade, fireworks etc. or one night we sat up in the lounge and watched the view out of their huge windows in the air conditioning.

I only requested that my first floor room was not facing the side of another building, you would have to look at a map of the poly to get the name of that particular building, not many rooms do

. We had a beautiful lush garden in front of our patio, which gave us some privacy, but just loved the ducks and bunnies running thru this garden and actually had ducks tapping on the sliding door for their daily bread.

The room is so big, clean, the bathroom very clean and modern. We just loved our stay there,

The lounge food actually fed us for breakfast and supper, all day there were tons of fruit and cookies out for inbetween. In the heat I eat lighter.
You can also ask for something if you do not see it there and if they have it your in luck, my son wanted a small container of yogurt, he was going to go buy one but thought about asking the lounge staff and sure enough they had a couple in their fridges.

Have a nice trip,

Deb.
