Poly bungalow....worth it?

For roughly the same amount of points, you could get a Grand Villa at Grand Floridian and have room for 12 people, and a lot more space.

For me, I would like to do the Bungalow maybe once in my lifetime, but right now we are enjoying the regular 2BRs.

I totally agree with this and the GV at VGF is far superior to the Poly bungalow (in my opinion of course)

Any fears that Disney might lower the points needed for a bungalow and raise the points needed for a studio in the future?
I don't see this happening seeing that they are still able to rent them out pretty easily.

When I was the two weeks ago I asked if I could tour a bungalow and I couldn't because all of them were reserved. So I guess there is a market for them.

Depending on the season you will pay that per night on Bora Bora for a bungalow on the water, but then you still have to pay for the airfare to Bora Bora and pay for all your food as those rooms do not have kitchens.

....You get a real overwater unit, with 2x the space for 1/2 the price per night. Air doesn't cost that much.

After having stayed in an actual overwater bungalow in Bora Bora ... I have no desire to stay in the Poly bungalows. The lagoon in Bora Bora was home to actual sea life, with beautiful turquoise blue waters. You had incredible privacy on your deck and could jump off to snorkel when you wanted. Manta rays swam and mated in that lagoon. One evening on the way to dinner we watched an octopus just gliding along. We slept with the doors open because the sea breezes kept mosquitos away (not so a few meters inland, sorry to say). I hope the environment and our oceans stay healthy enough for our kids to experience French Polynesia the way we did. We love visiting the Poly because it is a nice reminder of our once-in-a-lifetime trip there, but I think staying in the bungalows at the Poly, I'd just be comparing it (unfavorably) to the real thing.

Edited to add: I know, I love the World Showcase even though I've been to many of the actual countries. Not saying this is logical ... but French Polynesia just felt so different from anywhere I'd been before.

I've never stayed in one, but I dream about renting one some day. In my DVC fantasy, we are on a vacay with my family, my siblings and their families, and my parents. I have us staying in separate studios at the Poly (who likes cooking on vacation anyways? :P), but renting a Bungalow for prime hanging out/firework watching time (though some will be returning to their studios that night since it only sleeps 8 ppl). I agree with DVC Doctor about staying for 2 nights at a minimum. As someone else pointed out, if you only rent 1 night, then *technically* you only get 19 hours. It's a long shot that this will come into fruition, but it's fun to daydream about. :upsidedow
