So many points for 1night.
The time I would stay there the points are 135 per night. That's a lotta points!
I know for me a once in a lifetime experience. But I am having a difficult time justifying all of those points.

I think I would just sit in the minipool all day and not leave the room!
Any experiences and those who struggled with this. Thank you.

Depends on how you define "it." As you say, for many, it's a once in a lifetime experience, but there is high opportunity cost for those not independently wealthy.

My niece got to stay in one recently. She said she wouldn't do it again as the water was loud...flushing or running water. They have to pump it in hard. If anyone flushes in the night it wakes the whole place. If two are showering at same time the bungalow almost vibrates. Also the boat horns were loud.

Definitely depends on how important it is and how many points using that many for one night would be left for what you want. I am in the process of adding on more points and when I am done...providing Disney doesn't take them in ROFR..I will own enough so that every other year, we will be able to do a 5 - 7 night family trip in either the bungalow, a grand villa, or one of the new cabins, but still have enough for my other long weekend trips I try to do twice a year. My DIL really wants to try this so next summer, that is the plan. It will be a boatload of points...lol...but given it is her dream (and mine too), we are going to splurge!!

From what I have heard from other people and a salesmen that I know at DVC is that most people use it for a one or two nights just for like a party or big reunion and then have rooms elsewhere surfing the same time. I have always wondered about the sounds from the boats. I know this past february we stayed in the Treehouse villas, it was something to experience, but I would not do it again.

The dollar conversion is a reality check.thanks bill.
And can only sleep 8. We are the only ones in the family who have dvc points so optimally it would be great to share and if necessary also book a studio at poly for the same time.

I seriously would just stay in the bungalow for 24 /hrs...well maybe go get tonga toast and a cocktail or two.

We Love the Bungalows! We've stayed a couple of times. My daughter and her friends just stayed for her 21st (tradition for locals is to go around the world (EPCOT) to celebrate their 21st birthday. If you're going to be gone most of the time - it's probably not worth it, but if you are going to have time to enjoy its fabulous!

Technically for one night check-in is at 4pm and check-out is 11am - so it is really only 19 hours

I personally would want two nights to make it worthwhile.

Have done it once and am hoping to do it again. It was nice to sit on the deck and watch the fireworks and also the water parade. Didn't use the little plunge pool. We stayed when the A/C wasn't great. On our third (last night) it was so hot that we left for the BCV and let our (adult) kids have the place to themselves. But yes, it was a splurge and a large amount of points.

We too stayed when a/c was not working correctly - they had put a portable one in the patio door of Master suite, it was a little noisy and door was bolted shut so we couldn't use it to access patio deck. We asked for and received daily housekeeping for the inconvience. The portable ones are all out now and a/c is working great.

Good to know. Thanks. Would like to try it again.

Ir wouldn't be to me. We own at BWV and have long passed the break even point. BWV MF for 2017 are $6.47 pp. At 135 points, that bungalow would cost us $873.45. For that (in the same season), we could get 3 nights in a Boardwalk View 2 bedroom and have 6 points left over or 1 night in a BWV GRAND VILLA and have 43 points left over.

At $15 a points that's $2025 a night. I think you could fly to Bora Bora and stay a week in a real over water bungalow for less.

Depending on the season you will pay that per night on Bora Bora for a bungalow on the water, but then you still have to pay for the airfare to Bora Bora and pay for all your food as those rooms do not have kitchens.

You get a real overwater unit, with 2x the space for 1/2 the price per night. Air doesn't cost that much.

International airfare is often much cheaper than domestic. I wouldn't be terribly surprised to find something that cost me the same as flying to WDW or maybe even less. DH takes trips to China periodically and pays less than I do to get to MN most trips. :sad2:

Just looking at how close they are to TTC boat dock:scared: I cannot image listening to those horns all the time.

I personally think they are way too many points. Also to my understanding the small plunge pool isn't heated, so I'm not sure how much use you could even get out of it unless it was very hot outside.

The downside to those over the water villas in Bora Bora are that they only sleep 2. Clearly they are not designed for families.

Any fears that Disney might lower the points needed for a bungalow and raise the points needed for a studio in the future?

No way. Just not worth the $$$ if you have to ask the question. For someone rich, they might enjoy it, but they wouldn't need to consider the cost. If you really have to ponder the cost for one of these then the answer is no, it wouldn't be worth it. The villas are nice & I recommend a stay in one of those instead.
