Polly DVC rooms

So I was thinking of booking the polly (not the tower) through DVC

I just wanted some advice on what room type you would go for

I liked the look of the preferred view rooms (lake view) over standard room as it has the view of MK

However my only concern is how bad is the boat horns. We have five year old twins too. So don’t want any sleep issues. Is it quite often the boat horns? and if they have stayed in one of these rooms, did it cause you any issues

There are only (2) views for the Deluxe Studios in the Longhouses Preferred and Resort. The Preferred rooms would be the closest to the lagoon and the boat horns.

How much you will notice really depends on you. Do you live in a big city, or large metro area with normally loud background noise levels or do you live and work in a more rural environment where there little background noises like sirens or alarms.

How much time will you spend sitting on the balcony or looking out the window vs enjoying all the benefits of being at WDW?

There is really on (1) DVC longhouse that has views of the lagoon and/or the MK in the distance and that is Moorea.

The total number of rooms that have any view of the MK is about 70 rooms out of the 142 rooms in Moorea longhouse, one side of the building. You may indeed hear the both horns on the Seven Seas Lagoon from this block of rooms.

I don't think the boat horns are a problem but I think the points difference between the two categories is outrageous.

I'm not opposed to spending points on view upgrades when I think it's appropriate (Aulani Ocean View, Animal Kingdom Lodge Savanna View, etc.) but I don't think Poly Preferred justifies it.
